First Time Mafia stories?
OK, so the forum is Giant in the Playground Games.
The roles are pretty standard werewolf roles, AKA Seer (cop), Baner (Doctor), Masons, 3rd party "Lovers", etc. Pretty vanilla for GitP.
But the twist is that there's two wolf night kills, and only two wolves (And a devil; wolves didn't know eachother, devil was wolf seer to find us and unite us). Furthermore, the wolves doing the killing have to write the flavor of the kill themselves; minimum 4 sentences. It must include 4 clues: two that point at yourself, two red herrings. The clues had to be bolded in the Target PMs, so the Game Master (Mod) can see which is which. Oh, and the setting is ambiguous.
So I'm a wolf. I have my own kill, and have to write the clues. My avatar there is a Demilich Left Hand, AKA a skeletal hand with lots of bejeweled rings and some bones replaced with gemstones. I've also filled the D&D3.5 homebrew subforum with lots and lots of Hydra related stuff (including a were-template for magical beasts, with a werehydra as example; or a monstrous progression for Hydra and Werehydra); all my contributions to character building competitions have been hydra themed or based.
So first night's kill had stuff about choking the victim to death, the grasp unbelievably cold, but the surroundings had grim and ominous clues that pointed to my targets. People picked up on the grasping hand thing, but they fixated on the red herring; or one, my fellow wolf had a herring to the same person, a very obvious clue; town figured that if there were clues to the same person in the kills, then one had to be a herring, probably both; they also picked out a piece of text that wasn't a clue or herring and called it the second clue towards the victim of the day. One successful wagon and lynch later, and I'd picked off the Baner.
Night two. Office setting. Someone working late (cracking their knuckles as they get up) is assaulted as they leave their cubicle, obvious clue pointing to the guy with a guy at a desk with a computer for his avatar. I wrote of a poster on the assailant's cubicle, advertising a movies; a giant gorilla duking it out with a hydra. Well, the guy with the cartoon king kong avatar is pointed at, but town figures it for a herring, rightly. But they pick up on the hydra, but instead of it pointing at me, town points at... they guy with the llama avatars? Oh, right, he had his Godzillama avatar, and they figured the giant monster pointed at a giant monster.
Another lynch, and I was almost done with town.
Don't remember any details of night 3. I do remember the devil had found both wolves now, and we had set up a quicktopic to discuss our kills now. And we had agreed that my kill would have a herring pointing at him, and he one at me, because his cover was almost blown by now anyways; with the night one crossed herrings mistake, it was sure to lead town away from him; we proofread eachother's kills, and then sent them in. Town fell for it, and we survived to the next night, yay!
We offed two more people. The next day was 3 wolves (me, my ally, and the Devil), 4 town. I've since learned you call this Lych or Lose. And with two night kills for wolves, it was pretty obvious that unless they got a killer, they'd lose; the Devil wouldn't do. Town finally compiled all of my ally's clues, and offed him. However, with my kill, I brought it to 2:3 at night. Still didn't get my clues. Lynched the Devil. I off one more guy, the last Mason. 1:2. If I win they lynch, I win.
I convinced the Seer that they other guy was the killer (Llama guy iirc, currently with a hooded acolyte llama avatar), since I'd killed the guy he'd targeted that night; he had no seer reads on either of us. One Llama dead, and I'd won. Sole remaining wolf, and I got to write the flavor text for killing the seer, too, though the GM said I didn't need to if I didn't want to, and all restrictions were gone. I wrote it anyways. Over 8 clues as to my identity went into the final post, where the GM revealed my and the seer's roles, and declared wolves victorious.
Hence why I in particular like bastard mods. However, my memory on those events is fuzzy and I may be misremembering. Pretty sure that's how it went.
