Webadict and Dakarian were both pretty awesome at Mafia, so it makes sense for them to be there. Our glorious and extensively historied lore demands it, etc.

That's exactly why they are there, along with Org; they're legendaries.  I needed names for major players, and there they are- I wanted to intentionally pick people who were not around to join in.  Vector's absence is for the same reason.  Anyone else can just dwarf themselves from migrants (or get dwarfed ahead of time.)

Noted.  I'll try to slot in those others who said "put me in early because of FPS problems."  Just sucking at late game is no excuse!  You don't have to be good!

I can handle a military, it's one of the few things I can actually do.

Which exploits are we allowing (Danger rooms, splitting and melting coin/arrow stacks, falling on spikes for XP, etc)? Are we allowing savescumming? Are there certain things that we will avoid doing (not using product X, for example)?

Basically, what are the rules?

I'll try to post them in the thread, but in brief:

The exploits in the parens, no.  Savescum is for emergencies only (flooding the fortress, accidentally killing everyone, etc; not "a siege and half the fort died."

There aren't any game-specific rules, though I may or may not have made things interesting via site selection.

I can. :3
Pretty easy actually.
Easy enough that I can train 2 of the founders into Great~ level [weapon-users] when winter comes...
Create squad. Designate armor//designate training weapons. Go to schedule. Set to (current # of dwarves in squad, advised to be 2 for the starters for easy dueling/sparring), turn military on (and make sure they at least have flasks/waterskins because it makes no difference as compared to food, wherein dining halls are a HUGE difference). Create weapon rack/armor stand. Place WR/AS. Make into training area.

:D

Hinthint: If you want specialized weapon-users (because wrestling isn't that fun no more u_u), put a starting novice [+1] or ...the name of the +2 point rank, skill into those dwarves so they can get to the hacking due to having a background in it. The first months would be usually teaching and such--and they need to be fulltime to be effective (unless its the long term), so...yeah.

I'd like to remind everyone right now that I have never played DF, so someone else should name a migrant after me >______>

Also, please don't forget Pandarsenic :]

O_o
I could introduce you to it one time if you're ok with that, and have the time. :)

...Vector for manager? That profession is the best profession ever in the world. :3

PS: Toaster/whoever will do Y1. Set up the MANAGER as quick as you can. The faster the everything is recorded, the better. Also set it to 100% (there's an option with full records, I just forgot which one.)

All it needs, is a table, chair and an indoor spot.
