Talking about balance, looks like the first option received another vote, so that makes a total of six votes(Counting Serious' vote there) for following the handbook.

@Sirus: Yeah, I am probably making some, but with lower crit rate compared to electric magic, because as you probably noticed, electric magic doesn't have a good accuracy compared to fire and wind magic.

I think the biggest point of it is to provide an effective weapon against all three of the things Anima can be effective against in one tome, not just 'have stronger weapon'. Most class specific weapons don't have much, if any, higher might when they're effective against more things. Rapier, Regal Sword, Reignleif, etc. They typically have a gimmick, like The Hidden Blade has a 50% base crit rate; Gotoh's is being effective against all three non-conventional enemy types.
