Oh yeah, definitely, I love that game. Unfortunately that would probably require scripting, and on top of the "as little scripting as possible this time" rule, I dunno how well multiple combat scripts would play together.

On top of it I dunno if I like it for this particular project. I didn't really like it in baten kaitos, honestly, but that may have been because I kept forgetting what cancelled out what.

Yeah, I got pretty fed up with that game, mostly because it felt like they just tried to put too many idea into the game that didn't really mesh very well together.

It's easy to overcomplicate things.

Yeah, it had definite issues with length too, I recall enjoying it but it just wore me out because it was something like 72 hours worth of game.

Also, phase one of mapping complete! I'm not opposed to major changes to the maps, but this is the rough draft, so to speak.

I'll post maps for people to critique tomorrow or the day after. From here I'll move on either to art or music. Probably music, because I am positively dreading art.

Annnd we've got maps! Tell me what you think of them. Please note Mad Loot is a working title for the game that I came up with on the spot that references a game mechanic that may not even be in the game anymore.

They look about four thousand times better than any of my attempts at making maps.

Wow, these are elaborate and interesting to ponder about. They look like the image of a level I'd expect from an official guide. It will be interesting to see how they interact with the game mechanics as well.

I'm glad to see people like em, we'll see how they hold up over time!

Also I lied, I actually need to work on plot first, set up minor "cutscenes" (think cutscenes ala early final fantasys, people walking around/talking in the game format, nothing fancy), dialogue theeen I will move on to music and art. This means there won't be much to show off, for a bit yet, really. However! I've got a couple of people offering help (one on B12, one off B12) on art/music, neither of them super consistently, and I suspect I will still be doing the majority of the work in those cases, but I might have a few things from them to show off eventually. We'll see how that plays out!

If I was capable in either art or music, I would offer help, but I am terrible in both aspects.

Haha, no problem! We actually had one taker earlier in the thread, but he never got back to me. AndClayton, if you're out there, and something has delayed you on that? Lemme know. Might be able to work something out.

Still working on dialogue! I might have to do another pass later, as I feel some of the characters are kinda lifeless, but things are filling in better then I'd expected.

I can also now confirm that very shortly after the start of the game, you will have two characters in the party. Possibly going up to three by the end of the game. A fourth is.. highly unlikely. As of now, anyway.

Writing complete! It's a little flat in places, and I'll probably go over it again before I'm done with this, but it's in a workable state right now. Now I actually move on to art/music. With any luck I'll have some stuff to show you guys sooner rather then later!

Still on this, just taking a break due to things. Work that is actually going into the game hopefully, rather then practicing things (my pixel art is so bad holy shit), will resume on the 14th. Just a heads up!

Annnd another heads up, work has officially resumed, and I'm now working on music. Nothing quite yet, but I'll likely be posting stuff sooner rather then later.
