I hate it when kickstarters are too soft.

It has been a while since I've seen a really bad Kickstarter.

So far the Ding-Dong-Ditch videogame has been the eternal victor of the worst kickstarter.

Please don't get pissy and close the thread in a powerhungry huff, MrWiggles. Not saying anyone else would do that or perhaps even did that very thing. I think you're a very reasonable and even-tempered forumite and a good steward of such an important thread.

I actually unlocked the old thread, last night. I appreciate when people respect the OP's wish not to derail it, which isn't what happened (asking actually seemed to indicate people they should derail more.) So I locked it to break the derail train of people parroting back and forth at each other.

Spent a good amount of time on the shit-starter page and I have to say that I honestly felt pretty bad for some of those people because in their minds they most likely believed they had some golden idea hahaha.

I think something worth pointing out is, if something looks like some random students college/university project it may actually be because it is. For some reason, some photography and media courses are requiring that their students run some kind of kickstarter/indiegogo and social media thing for their coursework.

No it makes no sense to me either, but a friend of mine had to do it for her photography coursework.

Because it's a skill they need to learn to take a foothold in today's marketplace.  In my mom's years, they taught you to cheat on your income taxes (note: she did not do this).

That's pretty horrible. Like, does the home ec class show you how to make ghetto lattes and ghetto big macs? Does the wood shop class explain how you can generally pick up free lumber at construction sites as long as nobody sees you? How to lie so Match.com will accept you and then deceive a mate into liking you enough to help you make a baby?

I can see them trying to help you learn about the business of art and not just the making of art, which is pretty necessary. But putting low quality crap you did for a school assignment (and got a barely passing grade) on a crowdfunding site just clogs up and perverts the whole point of crowdfunding.

It's not for every schlub to make some money off the ignorant. It's for creative things to get made that would otherwise never get made!
