So, here it is, no coming back from this now :C

Ok, time to bring this back to life. We'll do it differently this time though. This time around, this will be my personal improvement and learning thread where I'll be posting daily exercises and stuff I work on to improve. You guys are free to tag along if you'd like and even ask for help and all that stuff and I'll do my best to answer in a helpful manner.

Furthermore, mostly because it's burned a hole in my inbox, I'll be hosting the giveaway for the Ctrl+Paint tutorial this Sunday. Since I don't think the old list of participants isn't valid anymore I'll have a signup last 'till Saturday evening (we'll go by UTC becuse why the hell not) and then we'll hold the raffle Sunday morning. The usual forum giveaway rules apply, no escaped lunatics and people registered after today. Also it'd be real nice if the winner used the tutorial and shared the progress here

Now, for those who haven't been in the random art thread, this is going to be a several weeks long thread to push each other to improve in a somewhat structured and organised way. We'll start off with the basics and fundamentals, and while this won't do the subjects any amount of justice, it'll be a good start for developing and learning on your own. The last few weeks will be dedicated to the more abstract stuff and usually digital tehniques since most of us are working on the computer. This doesn't mean physical mediums are excluded, by all means, if you're more comfortable with them feel free to use those, I know I might.
To give it all a big incentive, we'll have weekly assignments (five should be a good number, taking off an hour or so a day and you'll be able to finish them all), and whoever completes a certain minimum (I'd say atleast 3/5 every week) goes into a giveaway I'll host at the end. The prize is whatever Ctrl+Pain premium series they want, I know this isn't that much or anything but it's there to help you guys get motivated, and once you do win you get a further exercise in an area that you want (plus it won't set me back a couple hundred dollars like most video courses do).

We start this week, as soon as people confirm they're in (once you're in, there's no way out!!) I'll give you guys the assignments and the deadline for completing them. First week (or two?, perspective is kind of a big deal, we'll vote on it) will be perspective drills and learning the ins and outs of drawing in perspective.

These are obviously not a full course on perspective , I'll write a bit to help you (by wendsday, head's too tired to clearly think now) out and answer any questions you might have (hopefully) but they should help you along. And if videos are not your thing there's always Loomis and his great books which have parts dedicated to perspective (anyone that doesn't have these shoot me a PM and I'll send you a DL link, or just google them).

So let the suffering learning commence!!
