[Tawa]

Keyleth succeeds on walking on her hands, provoking the occasional odd look and raised eyebrow.

Waltom pays for a wagon to take the significantly smaller group to his home, which is a fair way to the east. He remains in the previous town, fearing for his life near his home. The wagon makes good time, and you all reach a town at dusk. The wagon-driver heads off, but first he passes David a note. It reads,

"My house is to the east of the town you've arrived in, Rabluff. I've enclosed a map to it. The monsters... were... horrifyingly powerful. You might want another companion for safety purposes.

--Waltom"

You're just outside an inn, inexplicably called "the Thirsty Dragon". The sign depicts what you'd expect, a large winged lizard drinking from a mug.

David passes the note around to his companions and heads inside, sitting at a table in the back, so he might watch the patrons.

[Sirus]

Keyleth sat nearby, observing everything around her. She used her far-hearing ability to eavesdrop on random conversations.

[The Ensorceler]

Eavesdrop on Waltom, and then try to find his house, even if I don't have a map. (+10 Stealth, +6 Perception)

[Tawa]

((... crap, forgot to mention the note was from Waltom, who stayed behind.

Bump.

[Sirus]

((...we're waiting on you, Taw.))

[Tawa]

((Um. OK then.))

Keyleth doesn't hear anything of note.

Perrin wanders through the shadowy woods and gets lost for a while, unable to find Waltom's house. He eventually finds his way back to town.

[Sirus]

Keyleth leaned over to David. She spoke excitedly.
"Did you know that the Petersons down the road just had a baby? It's the talk of the town, apparently."

[ShadowHammer]

Rhogar, who is sitting beside David, frowns and says, The talk of the town? Why? Is the population declining so drastically that they are desperate for more children to survive? If so, is there anything we can do to help?

"Maybe they're a wealthy family? Local merchant prince?"

[Sirus]

The elven monk shook her head at the questions.
"No, from the sound of it they farm turnips. The Petersons are humans, which are common enough around here. But the baby is half-orc. How strange is that?"

David's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"Well, that clears up a lot of questions."

[ShadowHammer]

The elven monk shook her head at the questions.
"No, from the sound of it they farm turnips. The Petersons are humans, which are common enough around here. But the baby is half-orc. How strange is that?"

Oh. Very strange. But it's not really the Petersons' child, is it?

David's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.
"Well, that clears up a lot of questions."

It does, but it also raises a few more. Such as, is this village being oppressed by evil Orcish overlords who pillage and rape as they please? We must aid these people in fighting for their freedom!

[Sirus]

"I haven't heard anything like that. According to those two--" she pointed towards a pair of gossiping halflings about 20 feet away "--the current theory is that the father is an orc blacksmith from the next village, whom Mrs Peterson had been visiting frequently last year."
