((Sirus is quite right.)) Anyway...

Jakme speaks;

"Once, a vile sorcerer dwelled where Cri Castle stands today. The fiend was a necromancer, a vassal of death, and devoted his life to darkness. He sold almost his entire soul to the Shadowfell, keeping barely enough to remain alive."

"Purportedly, he could summon nigh anything from thin air, and destroy a mountain with a snap of his fingers. Luckily, lich-creation magic was invented long post mortem of this fiend. However, it was said he would rise again from the grave and plauge all of Ekris with his shadow powers. It was said he himself had overpowered the Ferrier of Life's End, he who brings all to their final resting place. His name is lost to history, but I believe that this prophecy is beginning to fulfill itself."

"We have but one hope. Long ago, another prophecy was fortold, that a few heroes will rise and destroy him before he regains a mortal form. What you have encountered is but a smidgen of his ancient power. If we are to stop him, we must act now. You, heroes, are the last hope of Ekris. You shall all go and quest to destroy this ancient horror."

All of you but feel greatly obliged to fulfill this prophecy, due to the intervention of fate and the fact that Jakme is using the "suggestion" cantrip to make an arcana check rather than a diplomacy check, though none of you can tell. Jakme continues.

"I shall arrange for all of you to be given lodgings in the castle and training from the guards to assist you on your quests."

An awkward silence ensues until Jakme tells all of you, "You can go now." You all proceed to contemplate the sudden twist of fate.

Keyleth wasn't quite sure what to think now. This was crazy! She had just left the Spiral Temple a week ago and now this?

"Sold most of his soul, eh? Hmm."
Cromwell mused on this. He still wasn't quite sure why he was there, but it sure seemed illogically important.
Cromwell heads off to see about these "lodgings" and "training".
"Anyone want to come with me?"

"I have two questions: One: Just what exactly do you want us to do? We can't exactly go and expect to go and step outside, see him and then beat his face into the gravel. Two: What makes you think we're the prophesied group?"

In all the talk of prophecies and evil, Rhogar forgets about the Royal Jewels.
Keep the jewels (unless they are mentioned, in which case return them and receive the reward), and receive training.
If I'm returning jewels:
Oh! Sorry, I almost forgot about those. Allow me to bring them to the Lady myself.
If I'm training:
Training! An excellent idea, sir. Where shall I go to receive this training?

((Why is it that everyone posts tons when I'm asleep? :())

"Well. Since this looks actually quite serious, maybe the crown can pay me something for bringing this to light? Maybe I could get a job or something..."

Look for interesting documents, insignia's or anything that can prove that something seriously bad was happening here. Then head to the castle and ask to see someone who would want to know about this sort of thing.

(("All of you but"...? Did you forget a name or two?))

Keyleth wasn't quite sure what to think now. This was crazy! She had just left the Spiral Temple a week ago and now this?

((Aw crap; was originally going to have one or two people notice his usage of magic but decided against it. I'll edit that out later.))

That story was... surprisingly short, but effective. Still, I want to know more about this topic. Maybe later I'll ask him. And maybe find some books...
He starts leaving, when he seems to remember something, and turns around.
Hey, Jakme, if I can call you that, do you happen to have a library here? I would like to do some research. If so, and if I have permission to go in, could you please direct me to it?

Jakme responds,
"Why of course. The library is inside the castle. I spend a good bit of my own time there. To get to it, just enter the castle and take two lefts both at the first opportunity."

"Sold most of his soul, eh? Hmm."
Cromwell mused on this. He still wasn't quite sure why he was there, but it sure seemed illogically important.

At the end of your conversation, you reach the Training Hall. A guard greets you and welcomes you to come train; apparently he was forewarned of your coming.

((Go ahead and fill in your level 2 character sheets now. The "training" is an excuse to get you all back to the same level.))

((Whoops, sorry about that.))

Continue in my attempts to return the jewelry to Halflady Elys.

You begin to exit the church. Rhogar notices you carrying the jewels...

Training! An excellent idea, sir. Where shall I go to receive this training?

...and the two of you pool your gems and reach the throne room of the castle, where you find the Halflady Elys sitting on a golden throne. It's smaller than the average throne, and kind of cute, like kindergarten.

"I have two questions: One: Just what exactly do you want us to do? We can't exactly go and expect to go and step outside, see him and then beat his face into the gravel. Two: What makes you think we're the prophesied group?"

Jakme begisn to speak with you as Damirion walks away.

"First, I, and likely with the help of your wizard friend, will try to track the specter. Second, I think you are the heroes, due to this passage... one moment..."

Jakme reaches over to the altar and grabs a massive book. He flips through it, and you see him stop at Page 127.

"This is part of the prophecy:

Nine heroes shall rise
To the challenge of their lives
By fighting a troll

The troll will come here
By the magic of the King
Of Death, death himself

The King of Death hath
Come once this troll hath been summon'd
And proclaim the end

'Lest the heroes meet
Demise, and death end their lives
They are our last hope

In the Temple of
Prophecy they will be yet
More proven to be

The heroes of our
Time and the ones who must not
Die to this archfiend...

Apparently, this is one of two sources of proof. The other is in the Temple of Prophecy, where you will be described by name as the Heroes of Ekris."

((Why is it that everyone posts tons when I'm asleep? :())

"Well. Since this looks actually quite serious, maybe the crown can pay me something for bringing this to light? Maybe I could get a job or something..."

You poke around the castle grounds. You make your way to the basement of the castle. It is dark and dank. You find a multitude of old magic-looking things, all destroyed and broken. Apparently that guy wasn't lying.
