For the first time since meeting the rest, Keyleth seemed to be out of breath. The spiral technique had taken a lot out of her.

"Just need...a few moments...to meditate."

After resting, Perception Check on the stairs. Attempt to determine how much weight they can handle and which steps are in greatest danger of collapse.

David pulls his sword from the ground and goes to stand guard over the stairs. He tests their strength with his massive foot, pulling back when it creaked dangerously.
"I fear that I may be too heavy for these stairs to hold. Perrin, what say you to going down first?"

"Very well. But everyone should act like I wasn't leaving; I don't want to give anything down there any advance warning."
Descend, but don't use the stairs. Standing on knives wedged into cracks between stone blocks should get me down without any creaking.

Alright. Keyleth, your supersentient perceptive power tells you that the seventh, fourteenth, and twenty-seventh steps are the weakest; David and Rhogar will likely fall through for stepping on them. Perrin, you climb down your knives with ease, and there are no monsters, only a short hall leading to a door.

"Okay. Follow me down, don't step on stairs I don't step on."

Keyleth descends the staircase, avoiding only those stairs that are weak.

You reach the bottom of the stairs without incident. The only visible thing to do is use the door.

Will you open it?

Having made sure to retrieve each of my knives, I continue to the door. Carefully opening it a knifewidth, I'll peek through the crack.

Carefully head down the stairs.

"How old is this place, anyway?"

(How wide is the staircase?)

Cromwell: The stairs are four feet by seven and a half inches.

Perrin: You crack the door open. There isn't anything inside the room. The room is a large, open underground plaza of sorts, with an open, ornately tiled floor. The ceiling is made of reddish glass, and there is a dull light poking through the domed ceiling. Apparently it's partially obscured by plant life. There are eight doorways leading out of the room, not counting the one you're at. Each has a sort of symbol above it you can't make out.

David carefully descends the stairs, and enters the room, moving to the center and spinning slowly in a circle.

"Eight doors. Seven of us. If only Gharahrn had not left us... I hope that the prophecy will not be tipped in the favor of the Foe by this loss, but I fear that may not be the case..."

"Well, that's certainly cryptic. So how are we going to do this? Split up, or search each one together, or what?"

I would assume that since the prophecy has been so accurate this far, whichever path we take will be correct. If this doesn't work, that seer will have a lot to answer for in the afterlife.

I'll take a handful of dust and throw it through the door third to the left. If nothing happens, I'll step through.

"What if we all open our doors at once? Then we'll know if we need to split up or go together."

"Sure, then we'll be fighting seven trolls at once, as opposed to one at a time."
