Fikes sent me his hs, but the teleport didn't work. Although his was a few days ago, and this is with a new character.

My guess is things work different now we have a town bell.
I know being town members, we can send invites freely to everyone. I'll be on in a few hours, PM me your name and I'll see what I can do.  :)

It should work now, same HS.

I think my lean-to broke at some point while you were trying to join and that is what was causing all the problems.

Guys, gals, come join our neat little town! I promise wicker man masks for everyone!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Come on, who wouldn't want one of those?.  :D

In other Salem related news:
So, 2 days ago, my first character's camp was finally looted. Not a big deal though, as I intentionally left low value items and inspirationals in the boxes. One of the baskets was filled with leaves and branches though, so this gave away a clue someone maybe decided to use my camp as his base of operations? :)
So, looking around a bit, I spotted a lean-to relatively close to mine. And it definitely wasn't there one day before. Conclusion was made - this was the culprit's homestead!
However, I've seen no need to do anything mean. In fact, I was in a giving mood. :3
I moved my box and my two baskets to his/hers lean-to. Put a sign there, telling him to keep this but leave my stuff alone for now.
I was planning to move anyways...

...And I did! After a long search during which I came across an absolutely massive city/fort, I finally found a perfect place for me! Really, I could hardly wish for a better one.
At first, I wanted my future place to be relatively close to water, lime, iron, autumn forest and grasslands. Clay I could live without, if only I could find lime. But I had big troubles finding ANY lime deposits. In the end, I would be satisfied with anything so long as the lime would be at least somehow close to me.
But damn, when I finally found it, if was in environment that fit my starting request to the point. Even clay is close by. Crazy.
The only weakness is the water source - I'm actually based on what appears to be a small peninsula that eats into a very large lake/system of lakes. Being raided has become a slightly more noticeable possibility and I could be attacked from both sides, would the attackers be organized enough. But that's the gamble I'm willing to take.

Well the town, Ironside Bay, progresses. There isn't much left for us to "unlock" so to speak. We have boards drying, crops growing, leather tanning, and iron smelting.

Today I even killed a bear! And it only KO'ed me once! I think I can get them without getting KO'ed but I digress.

Seriously, come join the town. I am wasting inspirationals training skills I don't really need. Currently I am doing cooking, hideworking, hunting, farming, chopping and smithing. We need more people to take away some of these responsibilities!

You *do* need those skills, for slotting artifice into clothes.

I have added locks to all our gates. Two keys can be found in the kitchen.

We need blood to get on some day and either abandon the claim or pass off the account.

Your stuff is still intact Facekillz, so if you do come back (and I hope you do) you can pick up where you left off. Also, I've been working on getting some clothes artificed up, so I have some failed ones that you might find useful.

Hmmm, might just be me being silly, but I think keys can only be used by the person who made them? Unless you attune them to other present person (or so does wiki say).

So, any plans on what needs to be grown in our fields? I actually still have to learn how exactly farming is done in Salem, but I'm ok with helping grow some cotton/corn/or whatever we need.  :)
I'm guessing cotton though, seeing we can sell it in Boston?

There is a built in key copy system so it shouldn't be a problem to use the ones in the kitchen.

I don't have an exact plan for crops, but I think cotton should be our primary one. Cereal seems to grow the fastest and give the most seeds but can't be used to make oil. Plus the food I can make out of the cereal isn't that great. Cabbage doesn't produce many seeds and isn't very useful for food. It is great, however, for turkey feed and compost filler.

Getting up to tier 3 groups though is going to be difficult. We have to raise the influence of each field to the point where we can get the tier 3 of the one we want. The wiki has information on it: http://www.salem-wiki.com/mediawiki/index.php?title=Agriculture

Basically where we WANT to grow cotton we need to start with cereal.

You want to plant whatever was planted there before, to fill up the bars and get 2nd tier crops.

Ahh so keep planting cereal until the the bar fills than move onto the next crop until the bar fills? Also is there a way to tell which stage of growth the plant is on and what the different stages provide?

Ironside Bay is feeling really lonely. We have everything! Come and play already!

If my recruitment plea fails again, I am going to open it up to enrollment on the general Salem forum on Friday.

If it comes to that I will also be removing Blood's claim and any of the stray lean-to's around.

So don't let it come to that! Come back and play!
