As for Java issues, what's the problem?

I think it's just outdated. As per typical procedure when java does anything, I'm reinstalling and praying to the machine spirit for good tidings.
EDIT: It was some trouble with the app being self-signed, had to lower security settings to get it to run. It's going fine now.

Is this a downloadable game or does it want to run in the browser? (It demands I make an account, which I don't feel like doing just to find out if it wants me to compromise security by allowing java in the browser)

You download a small .jnlp file that opens a java window.  So it plays in its own client in its own window.

So you have to get Silver Coins to expand land? Does that mean you have to take a trip to the town to trade for them? I actually hoped that I could just fuk off into the wilderness and never go there at all. :P

I may make a new character and set up alongside you, DJ; but I'm actually about to go to bed now, so I'll PM you later.  Is there any way to delete an old character, though? Its actually going to suck, cause I do have skills and even a few level 10 skill ranks with my one guy already.  I'm just in a fairly bad spot, which stinks.  Atleast, it was bad until I learned swimming... but that still takes up a lot of phlegm.

You can probably walk over here from Providence in 2-3h, so you decide if it's easier to start a new char or walk the one you have.

I'm not even sure where I settled at.  It was at a spot between two rivers or the like.  I think its an island or the like; but since I haven't gotten to either side of it yet, I cannot be sure.  xD

Sounds like an interesting game. Never played any craft-oriented MMO before, might as well try this.

...you actually make a great point. Being close enough to other people so that trade is a viable option but still trying to depend on yourself sounds even more entertaining than establishing a town or something.

Might join up in the future days.

I'd love to have a bunch of B12 people, but in my experience it always turns out worse than herding cats. Neighbours would be cool, though, and if a couple of you decide to live together that's fine, I just won't be joining you. I'll help out with advice and some items, too, but not silver, you can go grind your own damn crickets :P

Anyway, if anyone wants to spawn near me PM me your HS here and I'll contact you in game. Don't use the wilderness guide before this unless you'd like to walk here or make a new character (the latter probably being easier). Escaped lunatics not welcome.
This man knows what's going on.  The problem with B12 is that everyone is a leader.  As soon as you get people onto a plot of land, every single one of them demands their own, personal plot of land and keep track of their own resources and not share.  This has happened in EVERY SINGLE GAME I've played with Bay12, from HnH to World of Tanks.

Now as it stands, I haven't played Salem, but am willing to become a farmer/crafter and occupy the communal stockpile position.  If it's anything like HnH, then food comes in massive abundance once you start farming, so I wouldn't mind pushing food resources into a communal pantry as I skill up.

The only question now, is where to settle.  If DJ is alright with having a dozen 'closely related neighbors' then we could try to hop in at the same spot and try to spread out a little.

I agree. A group of nearby freeholders instead of a mayor/peasants setup sounds about good. :)

The problem for me is that I hate, hate games that give griefers power.  There's enough of that IRL. I'm not going to spend leisure time dealing with it.  My main question is, is there any PvE/NoGriefing option like Wurms has?

Ye know, being an usurper overseer gone mad with power isn't too bad. It's honestly not that different from being a normal overseer.

PTW, might join up sooner rather than later. I liked H&H but my gods it was a dull, tedious grind to do anything fun. Salem is better I assume?
