Geartouched, the artificial mountain. A succession fortress.

Adrethadar, The Past Planets

Premise: For 200 years, the dwarves of The Heavy Walls have thrived in their mountains. However, their succes has created a new problem. The mountainhomes are suffering from overpopulation. But where should a dwarven civilization expand to when all the mountains have already been filled? A dwarf cannot be expected to live in the forests, or on the plains. The answer is simple: they build new mountains to live in.

I guess I'll write down a few important things.

- Turns of two in-game years? (Most fortresses use one year, but it seems so short.)
- Turns taking maximally a week of actual time.
- Overseers are allowed to mod the save file's raws on their turn.

So, any suggestions?
Also, I'll be happy to name dwarves after other forumgoers.

This thread is your friend.

Haha, thank you, but I've already posted in that thread, without succes. But it could be that I am being too impatient, of course.

Not yet. I was still thinking about a theme. So if you've got any ideas?

Well... Huh. A lot of themes have already been taken. Hmm. Maybe a terraforming theme where we go in and somehow build a new mountain where there was none. Complete with waterfalls and lava mechanics. Just something that falls under megaconstruction and stupid dwarf tricks. And, of course, you'll need a set up to mercilessly kill any foes. ( Even if you settle in a temperate Serene location. )

Sounds great, I've never done anything with pumping, so it'll be a challenge. The foe-killing setup should probably be using magma. Or something cool, like using a waterfall to push enemies into spikes or other pointy things (does water push creatures?).

The story would then probably something about the dwarven population becoming too large, and being forced to expand out of their mountains. Only to build new ones.

Flowing water does push creatures. However, it's not as effective as one might hope against things like the undead.

But magma traps lead to massive amounts of !!FUN!! I usually avoid them, cos Boatmurdered.

Yes! I like the story. We have to settle somewhere flat and possibly forested. Bonus points if we're close to the Elf-homes. The world gen will have to like, be cranked up to eleven to provide for all the overpopulation that makes this story make sense.

Tileset: The CLA that comes with the Lazy Newb Pack.
Mods: Considering the story, none are really necessary. I might mod the save as time goes on, but that's no guarantee that the mods will actually work. ( Just that they won't break the game. ) Also, if I have your permission to do so, I'm going to do this without warning to increase the fun levels. :3 I dunno, you could always grab the creature and entity raws from the Fortbent mod to put a race of intelligent spacetrolls in the game. Or other sentient creatures. I dunno. How much do you want the game to be focused on building instead of incendiary violence?

EDIT: Between turns, you can play on my succession fortress. In return, I'll send some of those players your way. Here's the link to mine.

Yes, let's add a rule that overseers are able to put their little mods in on their turn. It's limited by the fact that ongoing games can only (correct me if I'm wrong) be modded by changing tokens of existing creatures.

I have a few custom creatures and things myself, that I'll add for some extra fun.
