Looks very impressive and very similar to FTL.

The only thing i dont like is how the ships look, and somewhat strange name .

With this game, The Mandate, Star command for pc,  I am looking forward to more FTL type games

Anyway, game as it stands looks interesting, but suffers from that irritating vagueness about certain things, like how sandboxy it is or what parts are preset and what parts are randomly generated.

Also the following makes me cringe:

Galactic Princess is a combination of retro-futurism and pop culture. The game plays with common clichés and well-known references, twisting them in an unexpected way. 

Using satire, and parody, Galactic Princess toys with Humor and Drama throughout the game.

Eugh. I read this as "we've stuffed a bunch of cliches and references in there, but it's okay because it's ironic!"

Still, overall looks interesting. Not sure if I'll back it or not.

The gameplay video interests me more; it looks neat. 


But why is it called Galactic Princess? Where's the damn Princesses with fancy dresses with phasers hidden under them?

Ah, that doesn't sound too far wrong.  The part where I started getting mental alarm bells ringing was:

Most of the information you will need is not represented through the classic interface but through a Diegetic interface.

I mentally translated it as "buried in the background art and scattered across your entire ship; good luck actually finding it all where it can be read at a glance".  It can be done well, but it would be very difficult to accomplish, and I'm not sure how much is actually gained in the process. 

Though, actually, "FTL meets Princess Maker" would be all sorts of amusing.  ^_^

I really don't like the art style, I must say. I know it's supposed to be 'retro', but I hated that look back when it was the best that could be done. Now...I'd much rather have some decent looking sprites.

Somehow I get strong Star Command vibes from this. That is to say, having seen how that turned out, I'm very wary of this. It's just the over-emphasis on pretty, pre-set animations and attempting to do a "humorous" story and setting that reminds me of that.

Maybe it'll actually turn out good, but I wouldn't put money on it.

Mind you, it seems to be using a similar style to The Last Door and that one alien-planet-survival game I liked but can't remember the name of, and I loved the look there. Here... ugh. Not so much.

As far as the FTL x Princess Maker tangent goes, who else would like to see a game like Princess Maker where the thing you're managing is a highly modular starship build around a sentient AI's core? Like, you find the core in a barely-functional shuttlecraft in some scrapyard somewhere, and the game is about both upgrading the ship and teaching the AI, with various different paths you could go down.

Sorry, I know I'm beating a dead drum at this point, but I'm real sick of this shit.  If it says princess on the title nowadays I feel like having a princess be something other than Faraway Space Trophy would be nice
