: And that's the last one.
: With this you're finally a part of our fleet! Congratulations!
: So what happens now?
: You'll need equipment before you do anything, we'll take care of that straight away. I trust you can take care of the Ryuujou?
: Just leave it to me!
: We're not as cruel as to send you into combat without any training, so you'll be assigned to the fourth expeditionary fleet under your sister. You'll pick up experience there and we'll see about reassignment depending on the results.
: Perfect timing too! Akitsu Maru has been pestering me about high-capacity cargo drums; she'll definitely be happy to have a literal carrier on hand.
: We'll leave your first assignment for tomorrow though, the equipping process is rather taxing. Your sister will come by to show you to your quarters once you've been outfitted and supplied.
: As for the supplies necessary, we keep a cache in safekeeping for situations like this.
: Now where did I put that thing, I was sure I had it brought down...

: Fourth Expeditionary Fleet?
: Expeditionary fleets are like the errand runners of our base. Collecting and transporting resources, protecting low-risk objectives, patrols, and so on. Generally work that doesn't require the attention of a complete battlegroup.
: So I might be sent into combat?
: Well... yes, enemy raids happen quite often. As you've probably noticed as you were coming here in the first place; the sea is not as safe as it once was.
: B-B-B-but there's no way I can fight something like that!
: Yes, there are some very rare occasions where you'll have to face an enemy like that... But that wasn't exactly an officially sanctioned expedition.
: Furthermore, expeditions are carried out in groups of 6 ships; they may not be elite warships, but they're more than sufficient to cover you so long as you cover them.
: In case anything like that does happen again; run and send a distress call. We can sortie a battlegroup ASAP, and our response time is among the fastest in the navy.
: I've served in an expeditionary fleet early in my career, and I came out perfectly fine. As a carrier you're leagues above the destroyers that are tasked with expeditions on a regular basis. You'll be fine.
: If you say so...
: Do keep in mind that you'll also be representing us as a whole out there.
: Representing? To whom?
: As I've said before, the sea isn't as safe as it used to be. While that does cause us problems, it also causes serious problems to countries as well.
: Cargo ships are big targets for enemy raids and even air transports risk being shot down by enemy flak and aircraft. Whole countries have been cut off, supplies are rather tight and our government can't really keep us supplied on its own.
: Everything we can save, store, and salvage contributes to our effort. Countries, corporations, and even private citizens are more than willing to supply us for our efforts.
: They help us, we help them. The more they trust us, the more we can help them help us. Simple as that.
: Anything else you want to know?: Well... Musashi... She...
: Did she run the whole "Admiral's pet" thing again?
: ...
: It's not exactly what you think it is. Shortly after she was assigned to this base she caused a whole lot of ruckus.
: It's only rumors, but from what I hear; Admiral over there put his foot down pretty firmly. She quieted down right quick, but then she started this Master/Pet stuff and has been clinging to him ever since.
: I'm not going to go into detail with while she's within earshot. We'll save it for a side story.
: Do you think she can hear us?
: Every word.
: Aha! Found it!
