I don't have an exact suggestion. But if you're gonna do one I really think something you can use your writing style on would be best.

If the Sims wasn't so damned expensive, I would recommend that. It's a lot of fun to LP.

Older ones are cheaper, I guess?  Sims 2 pretty much gives you all you really need for an LP.  Honestly, given the lengths of most Sims LPs, the original would be more than sufficient...

I put together a house Haus full of 8 B12ers, taught one to break massive quantities of boards, had a battle of guitarists, found one dancing on bar tables despite his ambitions to become an astronaut, turned one into a wanna-be-necromancer, set one of them on fire and had him resurrected, and then my game crapped out.

I made an evil, greedy and manipulative "Fagin" sim and his mis-matched little band of ragged orphans with the Kleptomania trait, chucked 'em in a house together and set them loose on the neighbourhood, pilfering my neighbours' fancy furniture to re-sell and fund the household.

...Annnd then my game Playstation crapped out.
Was awesome fun while it lasted, though.

I'm sorry, I just currently don't have the time to devote to an LP right now. If anyone's wondering; I was thinking of resurrecting the Sengoku Rance LP or perhaps starting a Kamidori Alchemy Meister LP.

Then there's Elona which I've been pondering on as well...

In any case, since there's only a few days left; I'm raising the maximum price of games for this LP Stimulus to $20.

I fucking love that game.  My favorite games of all time were Shining Force 1/2 on the Genesis, and KAM pushes all the right buttons. 

I'm presently on my third playthrough and getting everyone to level 99, collecting artifacts, and clearing out those level 90 stages.

I would like to see a BioShock/BioShock 2 LP. Unfortunately both games are right up there at the top of the limit and they usually go on sale for really cheap.

I wouldn't mind reading a Startopia LP. I think it is $6-7 on Steam and probably $5 on GOG.

Oh, and since it's related to BioShock, System Shock 2. Although, same problem as with BS/BS2 in $10 now and usually goes on sale for like $3-$5.

After reading this topic over the past couple days, I... I dunno what to say about it. 

HOWEVER... I have been looking for an excuse to start doing an LP again (I do video LPs) so if there's a game that people would want to see me play that might be a thing, I guess. I usually prefer RPGs, grand strategy like Civ, or sometimes actiony things like platformers. Pretty bad at things requiring actual coordination, though. XD

As far as the xcom-alike goes, I'd recommend UFO Afterlight and the like.
It's base features are all *very* similar to xcom, and has an element of exploration and conquering to it as well.
Haven't finished it, but my copy kept hard crashing towards the end, and finally hit a road block.
