D & D 4e: OOC Thread: REPLACEMENTS NEEDED
« on: February 24, 2014, 09:59:52 pm »

Uh, hi.

So, I'm new around these murky forum-waters of games and RP'ing, so I figured I'd run some slow-paced D&D.
I'm runnin' one boss Dungeons and Dragons campaign over here, 'bout seven heroes fightin' monsters 'n bein' legendary heroes 'n stuff.

My original campaign idea was cheesy and kinda sucked, so I chopped it in two.

So, simply enough, if you don't know what D&D is, well, it's the godfather of RPGs, with what computers lack: easily adjustable rules and a diverse system of making stuff up.

If you want to join, sorry, but we're ending at nine for now seven, maybe eight (SEE BELOW)
EDIT: Due to plot complications, a replacement would be sliiightly off-kilter. Feel free to apply if you feel the need and have a good reason.

Questions? Comments? Concerns? I'll doodle up a little map later, but it'll be sketchy, rather sketchy.

Just post up a character sheet with all the stuff filled in, or, barring that, the attributes, skills, and important stuff with it. Background, drawing of your character, et cetera would be appreciated but not required. The bare minimum is stuff you have, powers you've got, and everything on the first page of the official sheet.

Also, if a character dies, you automatically inherit their color, should you be next on the waitlist.

On another death related note, since this is my first time DM'ing, deaths in the first two or three quests will count as "comatose" and not actually dead in case I accidentally throw insanely tough monsters at you or you split up in a dungeon and run across something intended for the whole party as two or three people.

Here's a link to the IC thread.

Starting at first level? I have a couple of 4e concepts I'd like to try.

I've definitely been looking into finding a DnD group, so I'm in.

Whether or not I join will probably hinge on the answer to this question. I have an idea for a rogue or psion I want to try out...

I have to admit that I do enjoy a good 4e D&D session regularly. It was pretty what got me into D&D in the first place after all.

I would also like to know about if it's PbP or something different. Not sure what class I would be going as however, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

First question, if it's PbP.
Second, what all books are allowed?
Thirdly, how will stat generation be handled?

I have some concepts I'd like to try, if it's PbP.

First off, what's PbP? Players Book of Power or something of the like?

Second, I only have 4e "Essentials" line, more specifically the rules compendium and Heroes of the Fallen Lands, but I guess you can use the other books, at least to the extent of the three Players' Handbooks, so long as you don't lie to me about power gains or intristics or the like. I am rather knowledgeable on how DMs are supposed to run games, from Wikipedia and the like at the very least.

Thirdly, I planned on starting at level one, but if you insist we start at a higher level I can brainstorm up some adventures aimed at higher-level characters. (At the moment I wrote a level 1 quest, a campaign finale quest, and a mid-or-so epic tier quest involving WIZARDs. Uh, mind flayers, ahem.)

Also, how strict do you like the rules? Like, on a scale of:

CHECK ALL THE BOOKS EVERY TIME YOU MAKE A DECISION!-------------------------------rules what rules i dont even ues propre gramar or spelng

I was planning on checking the rulebook for some things, but using copious amounts of "DM's best friend" (AKA +2, -2).

Also, sorry if I seem a bit, uh, "nooby" at this. My other geek friends prefer Grand Theft Auto and Pokemon to D & D, so I haven't really done this sort of thing before. I turned here after realizing how many people here must be into this sort of thing.

PbP = Play by Post. That is, instead of playing in real-time over some sort of chat client (similarly to how a real-life game would be played), people play by posting on the forums. It takes longer to run combat and stuff, but it allows people with variable schedules and in different time zones to play together more easily.
