mastahcheese, I just remembered that I have to tell you something vitally important. Warlock curses don't stack. If I've already cursed something, then that means that your curse can't take hold, and vise versa.

Just something to keep in mind, since my curse is really important for me.
What? I thought they did.
Dang it, good thing I'm part Ranger, then.

I have a feeling our characters will not like each other.

I have some advice for you if you do not mind.
Instead of saying that we estimate how many hitpoints an enemy has, try to tell it as if you were writing an actual story.
Try to indicate how much damage it has taken by telling how injured it looks.
Is blood gushing out of it's wounds? Is it gasping for air? Or is it limping as it attempts to run? A little bit of detail can help a long way.

Yeah! It's good practice for your RPing skills, which helps DM's make a setting, and therefore a game, more appealing to both the players and themselves. It helps draw them in and get them more involved.

Alright, the quest is mostly over.

I really hope we get good pay. I'm eyeing the equipment section right now. We still have the question of how you'll modify treasure parcels for 9 characters, though.
On a side note, checking on the Monster Handbook, the only way for a troll to give us 100 xp each (which is what from the DM book what we should be getting) is for it to be something like level 13, and that's way out of our league. Maybe we'll get xp for the tiny questline?

I got time to think up on all of this because I got to DM a small, two-player game.

According to my Monster Manual, a level 14 war troll gives "adequate XP" for a party of eight. Either way, I plan for you to be level 2 for the next quest with the excuse that you get-- um, we'll get to that later.

Also, nine? USEC_OFFICER wasn't even there throughout most of the thing. He went up to north castle and stood there motionless for like eight minutes while a guard tried to sound an alarm.

I have some advice for you if you do not mind.

I know that; I accidentally started during the troll fight and tried to stay consistent. I'll do it better... next time.

Everything else aside, there's some story bits coming up, and then you'll get to Quest II. I'll change the thread title to match.

Tiny little quest summary for the interested:

So should we post our level 2 stuff now, or PM it to you, or what?

I guess that the best course of action would be to add the level 2 stuff to your charsheets once I have stated "THE QUEST IS OVER" in the IC thread in red 24 point font. For now it's RP'ing and storyline stuff.

So I'm debating on which feat to take for 2nd level. I've got it narrowed down (mostly) to 3 choices:

Improved Initiative - because I want Keyleth to go first as often as possible to get the most bang out of her encounter power.
Skill Training: Athletics - Because a lot of her movements allow for jumping and other athletic-based moves.
Wild Talent Master (from Dark Sun) - Gain three utility powers, basically cantrips but psionic-based instead of arcane. Useful things like far-hearing and short-ranged telepathy.

Thoughts?

Open the Gates is very powerful, and with the extra dice from first attack, even more so. However, those cantrips sound really useful. Are they at will or encounter powers? If they're at will I'd choose the cantrips, if I were you, but if they're encounter, I'd go with initiative.

For Rhogar, I'm definitely going to choose Enlarged Dragonbreath, which makes Dragonbreath blast 5 instead of 3, so I can roast even more enemies with it. At maximum, I will be able to deal a total of 25d6 damage with a minor action. Obviously I'm unlikely to actually hit 25 guys with it, but still, pretty good.

The cantrips are at-will. Already got them picked out should I go that route and they wouldn't interfere with anyone else's abilities from what I can read off their sheets.

Again, it wouldn't improve Keyleth's ability to kill things, but the extra abilities they represent could be very useful.

Well, they are listed as psionic abilities, which is the monk's power source. I could justify them as specialized forms of meditation or something...

From an IC perspective, the abilities do match Keyleth's personality rather well and help do three things she tends to do outside of combat: staying out of the way, staying quiet, and being helpful.

I find it funny that my character can choose from the list of feats for Humans, Elves, Warlocks, Rangers, and Fighters as if he were actually skilled in any of those.

That said, I've yet to go look at them.
