Common enemy
« on: February 24, 2014, 08:53:19 pm »

For the short time that i have been here on the forums, i have noticed something, something that seems to be so ingrained in everyone mind it unifies you, a hatred so powerful  a sith would squeal in excitement and joy, what i have noticed is the hatred of the Elven race so i bring us hear together to Share in our hatred and dislike of those long-eared tree lovers, nature-obsessed hippies, elves, and how we spurned/dealt with them.

my story is that i flooded the forest of the elves in water, so all that they knew would be covered in mud and i time would be turned to stone creating a true dwarven paradise, free of goblins elves and humans

I actually like the elves. they bring trained animals, like tigers. they also bring unique alcohols.

Seconded. Just because I find this whole thing a bit forced and sure wouldn't mind having it die down a bit.

Have been trading my elves lovely golden cages for a few years, sure feels like that'd be something they'd appreciate ^^

(and sorry if this feels off-topic, but forced stereotype needs to die!)

Can´t do more than agree. Elves are the only ones that bring something useful after year 2.
Yes, I can order some more metalls I do not have from my mountainhome, that´s a funny luxury.
And if I do miss iron/steel I am in deep need of especially dwarven caravan.

But with steel in control the only fun thing to buy is more exotic animals. From elves I always look for a goods to, sunberries or sunshine. Can´t say that I look for anything beside getting rid of socks for the human caravan...

I look forward to the Elvish caravan with utter glee, its true. The sunshine booze I can make, the exotic animals just waiting to be bought.
But do I trust those cannibals? Absolutely not!

Never trust an elf!

This, aye. Haughty, arrogant, pointy-eared gits though they be, the tree-huggers are decent trading partners. Wouldn't trust 'em, but more than willing to swindle them with our "fine hand-crafted stone accessories" if it means we can get our hands on some war tigers.

When I was reorganizing my inventory to fit all by books on life and death into various bags and things, I looked at my inventory and saw that I was multigrasping a necromancer slab.  It was pretty hilarious.
I think that would be an excellent way to impart the critical lessons of life and death to the ignorant masses.

If they bring me good stuff I spare them. If they bring me crap I instigate a war with them to train my military just like with the humans. I wish I could do the same with the Parent Dwarf civ, having ambushes and sieges all year long would be entertaining.

There is currently a minor problem in that the veteran demons fighting in the corpse factory have failed to die in the 2 year battle and have become legendary unkillable gods of war. I may have misjudged this possible outcome.

I don't dislike elves. They're okay, in my books. I sometimes like to have an elf adventurer. That doesn't mean I don't just seize their goods when they come to visit because I can't be bothered figuring out which of the thousand tradegoods I gave them has a bit of sawdust on it but really want that giant tiger they have. And sometimes I like to train my recruits on them. Hey, if they didn't like it they wouldn't keep coming back!

Recently a dragon burned the forest and this bastards blame me.
Yeah, they'll probably blame me too for the mysterious death of their diplomat.
Apparently elves are slow walkers, my militia was able to kill him before he left, and they aren't exactly legendary armor users.

If I enable elven diplomats I invariably end up at war with them, since there are only so many short jokes I'm willing to accept.

Mind, right now I'm playing Masterwork, and the elven diplomat is quite polite, there.
