A Cave in the Greenskin Mountains
Will tried to get behind cover, making for the bend in the tunnel, which would shield him. He was crawling when his palm found a wet mossy spot on the floor, causing him to slip to the side and land on his leg. The end of the arrow broke off, leaving only a small amount of wood poking out from his flesh, and the force of this fall shot paralytic pain through him, prevent him from taking any action to staunch the flow of blood, which was making him more and more lightheaded. He was still winning the fight to maintain consciousness, but it was getting harder.
Kyle and
Rachel both retaliated against the archer who had shot Will, loosing arrows in its direction. Kyle’s arrow flew just above its head but Rachel’s aim was true. The arrow bent and rotated in the air, performing some strange dance in response to the forces acting upon it. The climactic moment in the arrows gyrations came when the head rotated into the perfect position to slip through the goblin’s ribs. The shaft had enough force behind it to pierce the goblin’s heart and protrude from its back, only to be snapped off as the creatures now limp body fell back upon the arrow.
Clair went after the bola thrower, swinging her axe in a broad arch towards the goblin. The pathetic thing threw up its hands to protect its body and had them torn open as a result. It could barely hold onto its bolas, much less throw them, with the burned and torn state of its hands. It tried to run, but its burned feet couldn’t carry it away with any speed.
Joe threw himself at the goblin with the spear. It fought as hard as it could to throw Joe off, but between its small size, broken ribs, and burned skin, it never had a chance. While the goblin was pinned Joe threw its spear away, disarming it.
George had prepared himself to defend the mercenaries against any bolas, but instead found himself simply staring at the gory scene in front of him, and behind it a mercifully quiet tunnel.
A Child's Dreams
The
dreaming soul found the young girl skipping happily in a field of flowers. It noted her hair was longer here than in the waking world. It projected an image of itself dancing with the girl into the dream, and she seemed receptive to the idea of a friendly ghost.
Varisport
A
murderous wraith drifted into Varisport, floating languorously through the city before finding itself in attendance at a meeting between the Captain of the Varisportian Vans, giving orders to guardsmen about to go on watch. Apparently
a theft had recently occurred at the Mages Guild, and they were looking to tighten security.
