In the swamp north of Paludan...
Proud of the fire she built,
Clair promptly mounted a capybara corpse on her spit and set it up over the blaze. She underestimate the flame height, however. The capybara corpse was soon turning a dark black. By the time she got it off, it had charred significantly on the outside, though some of the inner meat was cooked well. Not as much as there could have been, but it’s a snack.
Joe set off into the swamp with
Will in tow. Just a short way from the camp Joe found himself severely turned around. Luckily, Will noticed wisps of smoke from the camp fire, and they quickly reoriented themselves. Looking around the area, they saw a long stretch submerged in water, with no clear way around it, with an oddly bare stone outcropping two man’s lengths away from the nearest “dry” land. To the right of this pond lay a stretch with denser low lying foliage, while to the left of it lay an area that had a denser canopy that didn’t permit much growth on the floor.
Cromwell and
Kyle worked their way back to the tree that Cromwell had brutalized earlier, to find that there was what looked like blood dripping from it. Cromwell scooped some up in a leaf and took it back to Alice.
“That’s Dragon’s Blood! It’ll be perfect for Kyle’s shoulder. That means there must be a stand of trees around here somewhere!” Looking up at the canopy and looking around she suddenly blushed and quickly looked down.
“We’re in the middle of a stand of trees. Master Feran was right, I’m no good at this.” With that she ran off in the opposite direction that Joe and Will had set off in with tears in her eyes, leaving a confused Cromwell holding onto a leaf which apparently contained some form of medicine.
