After a blow is landed, the effect is determined by d6 + Str(att) - 10 - Armor effects, where:
1 = ineffective strike (nothing happened)
2 = glancing blow (pretty much only meaningful if the weapon was poisoned
3 = minor strike (may cause bleeding, would take a lot of these to kill)
4 = fair strike (rarely lethal in isolation, these wounds can add up)
5 = strong strike (can take an opponent out of combat, sometimes lethal)
6 = devastating strike (nearly always death)
So right now you subtract 2 from your opponents attack roll, effectively. And that's if you fail to block.

Just to clarify, since the market trip might have thrown some people off, what we're waiting for right now is the group (or somebody) to declare what contract is being taken.

In the future it might be beneficial to determine some sort of leadership structure, so that decisions like this are less chaotic. Also, the allocation of funds is rather hectic at the moment as well, and could be structured by you in the future. However I will not take part in any of this, it's up to you as the players to create any structure you deem necessary.

Heads up, there's a new poll. While you guys are deciding what contract to take I'm gonna try to get some lore/NPC stuff updated. This should also be possible during the contract, since both of the ones you're looking at are combat based. I probably need to flesh out Alice, since Kyle has developed quite the interest in her. The question is if I should focus exclusively on her or also update other things.

EDIT: Also, if a decision isn't made about the contract in bold before Sunday I'll just go with Mastah's suggestion, since that seems to have support.

A note on the party being split: I will post turns for each separate group as the post actions/I find time to write them. This means Kyle may post two or more turns in the time it takes the others to post one.

Also, I have backstories written for Alice and the Innkeeper. Ask them about themselves and you can learn all about these hopefully interesting characters.

I'd have a hard time explaining "The guy with the club that is little more than a stick managed to hit someone hard enough to go straight through their shield without shattering the club" now wouldn't I? Also, it's a difficulty factor of 1, I hate to disappoint the waitlisters but unless the dice really hate you guys, you should all walk away from this.
