Kyle nods.
"I promise."

Guard:
Alyce (GD), Clair (Scapheap), Gunnar (EL), Kyle (kj)

The night passes quietly for the most part. On occasion the bushes rustle and hum, but no hostiles show themselves. The talk round the fire turns grim, and pledges are made - the burning of their bodies, when the dead desire to claim them.
It is near dawn when the peace is broken. A low moan rises through the trees and a single twig snaps. There is a hiss as a corpse slides from where it lay concealed in the undergrowth, both legs rotted clean through. It crawls towards the group, almost pitifully, but with a single mindedness no living creature could muster.

Waldrid is awoken by the low moan, his senses already on edge due to the previous day.
Swiftly gathering his equipment, he backs up slowly while watching the creature.

"So we finally meet one of the sorcerer's minions. We must dispose of it quickly, and hurry to our destination."

If stomping on it turns out badly, slice it's head off with my sword.

Hastily drawing his dagger from its sheat, Gunnar made himself ready to whatever may follow suit. If any. Either way, he was - for once - quite unamused by the situation, a frown replacing his usual smile.

"... as expected. Here is hope it is the only one."

Follow to vicinity of the Zombie, watch the stomper/s back/s.
(As in "guarding", not as in "doing nothing", mind me ;3 )

Continue sleeping. I have little use in this particular combat anyway.

"A wretched thing, but tonight it will find it's peace."

If it somehow survives the companion's attacks, stave in it's head with the mace. Then burn the body.

[4+3v20] Kyle stamps down on the creature’s head, scoring a solid blow. The skull cracks and his foot is engulfed in a swarm of maggots, crawling up his leg. [1+2 = -1 Morale!] He panics as they start to burrow in, sweeping them off - whilst he is unharmed, his hands and leg are covered in a vile yellow goo of crushed maggots. Worse, the corpse seems entirely unperturbed.

[10+2v11] Gunnar, however, deals a rather more effective blow. [2 damage] His knife strikes the thing’s neck, severing the head completely from the body. It rolls away, a few more maggots crawling from the edge of the hole in it’s scalp, before coming to rest a few metres away. It shows no further sign of unlife.

Exctensively wiping off the knive he just used on some foliage, Gunnar shares in on the disgust.

"Now that was unexpected - and a lesson learned for all of us, I wager. Eww, no, just think of it - one clad in plate, and they craw under it and you can't get it off fast and.. er.. ahem ... right! -  I reckon if you take some cold ashes from the fireplace, it will help with washing that stuff off."

Clair look round
"Keep a lookout, guys. There may be more that heard us and it."

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.

*yawn* what have I missed. Hmm seems that our presence has not gone unnoticed I except that there will be more tomorrow night.I recommend we get moving while the sun is up. Kyle I hope you are uninjured and well know that God is with you and with us all in this venture. May I ask what is our plan once we arrive at our destination though as we will need to build fortifications when we arrive there I can begin to draw up plans so that we will have less preparation to do upon our arrival. I simply need to know what kind of structure do we plan on building

Ah, how was the night watch, lads?

Ooh, that's some rather nice maggotry you've got there, comrade. You alright? Wouldn't want to be the victim of the famed burrowing fleshworm, now would we?

"... The next person to mention why I should be worried about the maggots without helping to get the juice off is getting stabbed. Any questions?"
