Do note that this entire thread is about a tabletop RPG centered around the concept of anime-styled Magical Girls, so if you're not into that kind of thing, please do read on because the reactions will be absolutely hilarious to watch.~~~~~~ /人 ◕‿‿◕ 人\ ~~~~~~
Magical Burst is, for lack of a better description, a game where you can be a little elementary schoolgirl that just so happens to wield entirely inappropriate magical powers for the sake of fighting various evil critters referred to by the vanilla game as "youma", which are basically manifestations of negative emotions and because you, as a little girl/paragon of moe and happiness, cannot simply watch them ruin everyone's day, it's your obligation to go and mop the floor with them whenever they appear to cause trouble.
Oh, and the whole thing about getting a wish of yours fulfilled in exchange for magical powers to annihilate baddies with sounded kind of awesome back when you were given the choice anyway; it's not like there was a downside to that deal.
You basically live out your life as a magical girl that goes to school in the morning, rumbles through downtown killing troublesome youma left and right together with your also-magical-girl friends, generally not having to care all that much about the negative things because there's always someone to cheer you right up!
Screw that, you say? Well, don't worry! There's also
Credens Justitiam as an addition to the rules of the above! You're still an elementary schoolgirl and you still have entirely inappropriate magical powers for a human entity of your age, but gone are all the youma! Those are worthless small fry, really. Enter the Witches - horrific eldritch monstrosities that - instead of the youma that are kind of there and don't seem to actively hurt people most of the time - thrive on driving people to madness and make them commit suicide! They don't wear any silk gloves whilst you fight them! And they're almost everywhere; you defeat one but there's always another eating away at the city elsewhere - do you play it safe and let people die or do you try to save everyone? The numbers are no longer in your favor. Neither is the distribution of power. Your group has to split up. You go to fight tthem individually because that's what worked with the common youma, too! And then you meet up in the evening for cake and tea with your friends! Except that one of your group is curiously absent and the emotionless fluffball you made a contract with reports in a disturbingly detached voice that there's another witch around now you didn't know about before you set out to kill them.
Your numbers slowly dwindle and consolation becomes a rare commodity. Your magical pendant, your soul gem; has it always looked this muddy and stained? Why is everyone agitated with ever-increasing ease? Why are
you no longer thinking clearly? Why does it hurt when you think back on your wish and it doesn't seem like you've got what you wanted after all?
Well, those questions are something I can't answer for you right now, but in the meantime...
I'd like you to make a contract with me and become a Magical Girl!~~~~~~ /人 ◕‿‿◕ 人\ ~~~~~~
That much for an introduction. I'm mostly making this thread because our GM, known to some as Dom3k and to the forumgoers as Zecro_The_Scourge, said that I should go ahead and make the thread.
Well, here is it. A call for interest into the wilderness of Bay12 in the hopes of finding more players since the people we ran a test round with kind of have the tendency to always be busy when the next round comes up to debate.
Make a clicky here to get to the third iteration of the Magical Burst rulebook - don't worry, it's not being sold and actually presented freely on the maker's site.
Aaaaand make a clicky here for Credens Justitiam to have the full goodness of how much suffering being Meguca actually is. Just like above, free of charge thingy and available. Obviously, it's an addon to the Magical Burst rules so you'll need the first thing, too.

Well, that's all I've got to say regarding the game, so let the interest fly high and wide whilst we wait for our sulking GM known for his lunacy in an earlier Paranoiahammer 40k campaign to appear~!
