Kat took the invitation at face value and sat next to Gordon, looking around.

"I haven't been in too many churches. The Gods don't want me in them, or so the priests told me."

"...Anyway, you weren't with the rest of us, and after that weird skeleton kept going out of his way to take shots at you, I was wondering if... you know... if you were OK."

[Sirus]

Gordon harrumphed, a bit of his usual cantankerous self returning to his voice.

: "Those priests were close-minded fools, and tha pile o' bones will get what's coming ta him soon enough. He'll need more than mere words ta shake me faith." He sighed.

: "Nay, tha reason I came here was because of tha talk of what lies beyond tha Gates. I needed ta remind meself what's important." The priest was silent a moment, then shook his head and grunted.

: "But I don't suppose ye'd be interested in that. Is Vandertz ready ta leave? Are we heading out?"

[Solymr]

Garret walked inside close to the other two, but didn't take a seat.

: Don't think so. All she said is she was worried about us when I ran into her and I decided to help her look for you in case she got lost.

: ... And I was *slighty* worried too.

: Good to hear you're alright though.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"No, we're not leaving yet. It's too late for that; we all need to get some sleep first. Oh! And an old man from around here wanted us to help rebuild some crystal towers to protect the town. We'll probably end up doing that to help out before we move on."

[USEC_OFFICER]

Since the pair have probably found the only open shop in the area by now, Kaarina turns to Maiya.

"Well this was a bust, not much going on here. We should probably hork a couple of staffs just in case, but otherwise this was a wasted trip."

[Sirus]

: "Crystal towers, eh? Never heard of such a thing. Did this man give ye any indication of how long this task would actually take?

[SeriousConcentrate]

"No, and I didn't ask. I wasn't in much of a talky mood. Just a little... tired, and all that."

"So, um... what IS important?"

[Sirus]

Gordon thought about ignoring the question, then grunted and pulled a small wooden locket out from underneath his armor.

: "Take a look at this. 'Tis probably older than ye, Garret. Certainly older than Katarina."
Inside the locket was a finely-detailed wood carving of a young woman. A woman who at least vaguely looked like Kat.

[Solymr]

Garret leaned over to look at the locket.

: I figured as much... Well, are you going to share the story of that?

[SeriousConcentrate]

Kat looked at it too.

"She looks like me. If I were pretty, I mean. Who is she?"

[Sirus]

: "This is Anna. She was me wife, long ago. I loved her very much, but we had so little time together..." Tears slowly leaked out of the corners of his eyes as he spoke. "We were married for just six months before death took her."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"O-Oh. I'm sorry, Grandpa."

Kat put her hand on the back of Gordon's and looked at him, concern evident on her face.

"Um. May I ask what happened?"

[Sirus]

: "Murdered...by a group of hags calling themselves tha Dark Witches. They claimed that by using 'dark magic', they could regain their youth and beauty. Anna was their chosen sacrifice."

[Solymr]

Garret was disgusted at the thought of the sacrifice.

: Egh... Sorry about that...

: What happened after that? Did they... try to get you after that?

[Sirus]

: "If that was their intention, we didn't give them time. I still had a few friends in the priesthood, and as soon as I noticed Anna missing I called them up. We found the Witch's den and captured them all."

: "That's when we found the...bodies. Of all the people the witches had killed."
