"Don't look at me. It's not my job to keep track of everybody. They probably wandered off to do something or other, it doesn't matter. They're old enough not to need babysitting."

"Because we didn't just fight through a whole bunch of undead controlled by some priest trying to get into Grandpa's head, right? I'm going to go look for them, since no one else seems to care."

Kat left the room, intent on rounding up the group's stragglers.

[Solymr]

Garret was going to enter the room when he bumped into Kat. He had wandered off the room to take a bath and a walk outside, the Killing Edge still safely strapped to his back.

: Hey, what's the rush? This time I mean.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"You, actually. Well, you and oldtimer. I was worried about you two, considering that weird skeleton guy and everything. You feeling OK?"

[Solymr]

: Considering everything, I'm pretty good except a little sunburn. Water does wonders. And the old man isn't back yet? I saw him leaving but I thought he would be back sooner. He's probably praying somewhere, it's not been such a good day and knowing him the last he wants to do is stay with a bunch of drunk mercs.

: ... But if you still want to look for him, I guess I can go with you...

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Thanks Garret! I appreciate it!"

"It's just a little hard not to be worried about Grandpa after we dealt with that skelly priest. It seems like he had it in for him pretty bad, you know?"

Kat started off in a direction and stopped after a few seconds.

"Umm. I wasn't paying attention when we came into town. Is this the way to the church?"

[Praefectus Screptum]

Vandertz opened his eyes again and began to look around as soon as he noticed part of the group was gone.

"Alriiiiight. So seems like I missed something important here. I just hope they don't go somewhere too far."

As mentioned previously, the town is pretty small. So finding the Church wasn't too difficult, even if it barely looks like a Church due to the large number of vines and moss covering the walls from the outside. And the only shop open was only selling antidote staffs, they had a really good reason to be selling those.

[Solymr]

: There was this thing that remotely looked like a church, but they apparently don't keep it in a very good shape.

: What if he really is inside though? I doubt he's in the mood to deal with your usual hype-y self.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Mmm. Do you want to go in and talk to him, then? I'll wait out here if so."

[Solymr]

: Ehh... I don't know, I don't want to bother him and get smacked over the head. I'll have to check if he's in first.

Garret opened the door and looked in to see if Gordon was there.

[Sirus]

Gordon was indeed inside the (practically empty) church. He was sitting on one of the frontmost pews, head down and eyes closed.

: ...
Because the church was otherwise completely silent, Garret could hear him mumbling something. However, the old man was too far away for the swordsman to make out any words.

[SeriousConcentrate]

Kat, being nosy and impatient, had already sidled around Garret's elbow and strolled on in.

"Hey, Grandpa? Father Duvall? That you in there?"

[Sirus]

Gordon jumped in his seat, before hastily wiping at his eyes and turning to face the two youngsters.

: "...Katarina. Garret. What brings the two of ye out here?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I was worried about ya, you old doofus!"

She took a few steps forward before noticing something seemed off.

"Hey, Father Duvall? Are you all right?"

[Sirus]

The old priest faced forward again, unable to look the girl in the eyes.

: "As well as can be. I was...remembering old times. Better times." He half-turned back, still not looking directly at the two youngsters but at least not turning away from them entirely.

: "Might as well come in, if ye wish. No one here 'cept me and tha Defender, and I'm sure He won't mind."
