Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger
« on: February 17, 2014, 04:40:26 pm »

I'm Scavenging a bizarre Neo future it seems! It has Neo in, so we know it's cool!

Blank Plays Neo Scavenger - Episode 1 - big pointy stick

The Wiki describes the game as such "NEO Scavenger is a hex- and turn-based RPG wasteland survival game. A free demo can be found at the website, but if you want to support the developer you can buy the beta. Buying the beta also includes access to the full game once it is finished. The learning curve is steep, but enjoyable for many."

Though you can check it out here yourself

So we begin playing and I use my limited knowledge of the first hour of game-play to kick things off in a semi competent fashion!

I stab a lot of people with a sharpened stick!

Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger - Episode 2 - Mass murder

So I manage to do some basic crafting and forge myself a weapon of the gods! Albeit the gods of pointy wooden things, but still a beautiful weapon to behold. With it I fend off my foes and even grab some pretty decent loot from the get go!

Now all I need is a backpack....

The Dogman Cometh!

Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger - Episode 3 - Death of another Dogman

Though we get hold of some pretty important equipment, such as a portable tarp shelter and even a backpack! Now let the journey begin, we also fuck up another Dogman with a meat clever. Which was surprisingly easy, I just think we are some bizarre killing machine, bio-engineered to eat berries and murder. If only!

We finally have enough equipment! Now our slow steady gait towards the 'glow' begins!

Blank Plays Neo Scavenger - Episode 4 - All geared up

We also manage to stumble across a pretty high powered bow as well a lighter. So now we command the powers elemental! As well as impale people with arrows from a distance so I'm pretty happy honestly. Well if I could find arrows that us, time to brush up on my fletching skills.

Definitely. Honestly the game is good for what it is and the Developer is an awesome guy. Had some back and forth with him on Twitter and he seems committed.  Though even right now the games is practically finished. Give it a go, not a perfect game, a few UI things are annoying but honestly I'd say buy it!

I decided to take on a perilous journey for a saucepan off camera, I didn't find one and nothing happens! Woohoo!

Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger - Episode 5 - Saucepans

Though we end up further away from civilization than we ever have been. Which isn't bad, since we can rely on our rugged botany and trapping skills to survive! Even if it still proves difficult. I even try and explain some of the games mechanics to people, though that's normally the boring part. Having Bad Mutha's (yeah that is a faction in this game) hurl insults at me instead is where the fun is to be had. When I inevitable loot their freshly butchered corpses.....

We take a another Bad Mutha down without injury. This is getting a bit crazy now!

Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger - Episode 6 - Bad Mutha beat down

Though after our murder we continue our adventures through the wasteland, simply scavenging and taking each night as it comes! Eventually however we take up some more rustic living trying to cook squirrels and even finding old newspapers to learn even more of the back story! If I can even call it a single coherent back story.

Remember your PSA for today everybody, avoid malnourishment!

I tend to help as much as I can. I've got to give back to society and this how!

If I had to guess, I would say that the sled was probably the southern tile adjacent to both the mountain and forest tile, but the lady who survived meeting you was travelling in that direction...

If I had to guess about not being able to cook, I would assume that you would require some cooking tool, a stick might work, just something other than dropping the meat in the fire or placing your hand adjacent to something that was intended to get hot enough to cook flesh...

We scavenge and happen across a lot of prescription medication. I mean it is the apocalypse now, so I guess that makes me either a Doctor or a drug dealer.....

Blank Plays: Neo Scavenger - Episode 7 - Post-Apocalyptic drug dealer

We continue our foray into absolute nothingness, simply scavenging the local area and murdering far more people. Hell statically I bet at least one of our victi...I mean enemies was a nice guy right? right?

I all but give up on the sled honestly, however the cooking thing is important, you do need something roast food on. Which would make sense honestly. It is important to be able to cook, unless you get into the DMC quickly berries and mushrooms aren't enough to keep you going indefinitely. I figure it out though so don't worry! I use it for bad, bad, deeds later on.

Sometimes human, just never do it twice.

There a few obvious digs at existing companies and is quite fun to see them around actually!
