What Blade said. He spent most of his time trolling his own allies and Npcs, messing up with the outcome of some Chapters. If this was really the same situation, Even wouldn't be alive at all.

So many chests, so little time. We'll probably have to spend several turns staring at Duran's mug in order to avoid finishing the map too early unless Praef allows us to loot the chest post-chapter, which would certainly speed things up.
