shell-mood help?

Hi!

I'm playing mostly with those "less item name clutter" (fewer item types something) mods enabled aaaand...:

Sandal Ragdrool is currently in a secretive mood with intent to claim a Craftsdwarf's Workshop and become a legendary Bone Carver.
She has claimed a Craftsdwarf's Workshop and wants the following items:
Item 1: any shells, quantity 2 (got 0)
Item 2: any cut gems, quantity 1 (got 0)

I have several shells:

  quality: Basic
  material: CREATURE:ANIMAL:SHELL

But the moody dorf doesn't seem to be interested in those.

(also have several cut gems, but those should be second, right? )

Any idea what's going on and how to fix it?

make sure that the dorf is not assigned to any burrows. Also make sure if they are in a burrow that all the items are within said burrow, I've had moody dorfs sit there forever until i removed them from their burrow, after that they grabbed what they needed

You might also want to check that the items are accessible, and not forbidden/marked for dump.

Maybe the shells you have haven't been cleaned yet?

Best to just disable shells from all stockpiles and (d)ump then unforbid those shells right next to the workshop.

Did that, also made sure I had clean shells. (If I remember right, those were the second item info). The dwarf did not take any.

Spent quite a while trying to figure that out... after I ran out of options (quickly expanded my fishing, built a pont, slaugtered one of each shell-bearing things on the map, mined one of each gem-cuttable, made sure there were raw / glob versions + cleaned + small gem + large gem versions of everything) I forked the save for some cheat-testing and created a big assortment of different shells & gems with all of the dwarfs preferences (in the end I got "creative" and even dfhacked some items like "large gem made of angel shell", "blood gems" and "shell made of crystal glass" into the game to cover all the possibilities). Nothing worked, so after reverting the only solution was magma.

Does masterwork do the same thing with shells as it does with leather? That is, does it make them globs so you don't just get one from each creature?
