Ah, so I'm blind all around.  I guess if I screw up enough times, I can eventually stumble across following the rules without even knowing it.  Thank you for correcting me on that.

It knock you down, but being knocked down only mean your last move didn't happen.

Here's the order of actions when I process the turn:
1) See who took cover this turn.
2) Roll German shots, see if they hit anyone, assign injuries and knockdown
3) Move anyone that moved
4) Patch people up and remove health for bleeding.

Note that while moving remove your cover, patching someone up does not.

As you step forward one more time, the Germans machinegunner fill the air with bullets. [1][3][2][5][1] For some reasons their accuracy must have improved, for King Riverqueen and Marinochka soon bit the dust, their bloody mouth managing a last "Long Live Stalin!". Ensign Cannonfodder take a shot to the calf, while Sergei Lavrov has no choice but to hug to ground to avoid the lethal stream of lead right above him.

Vladimir Vissarionavich Lermontov take cover, waiting for a medic, but no one bother to help him.

I changed how I allocate shots a bit (basically, it's pondered by the zone you're in now, so someone in zone 4 got 4 time more chance to get hit than someone in zone 1.) People under cover can draw fire but won't be hit. So it might make sense for people nearer the bunker to wait for more soldiers or something.

Also, if you bring more people, you're less likely to get shot.
