I'll have to try that sometime. I tend to stick with the autoeject and nuke blast on hitting critical damage, have gotten quite a few kills on titans and pilots who don't expect it.
So far I'm enjoying it, but there do seem to be issues getting people to play with on the campaign during my normal (midnight) hours. On the bright side, it's an EA game and the servers actually worked at launch! Something Sim City and various other games shooed into Origin can't attest to.
Of particular enjoyment is the Smart Pistol, since it rewards positioning and stealthiness rather than fps twitch skill, which I have very little of, having only picked up FPS games in the last 4 years or so (and having only really played Perfect Dark / Goldeneye 007 on the N64 prior). Being able to take out an unwary opponent is nice, but I feel the balance of power shifted toward spammy carbines and full auto rifles in the open; if I don't get the drop on them I can't survive an all out firefight.
The parkour movement is definitely taking some getting used to, and I'm hoping to try out the DMR from a vantage point at a later time. Being able to think in 3 dimensions is a huge advantage when assessing tactical options. Running through a building in order to get the drop on a Titan who (hopefully) doesn't have anyone keeping an eye on him is fun, and I'm rather hopeful for satchel charges once I reach the level I can use them. Hop on Titan, shoot a few times, drop some satchel charges, then boost away as I hit the explode button. At least, I hope they work while doing the rodeo thing. Barring that, some sort of anti Titan weaponry that doesn't have splash damage exploding in my face when attacking its weak point for massive damage would be nice.
I haven't really used the burn cards, and I think it's a bit of a gimmicky system. I'd rather stick with the options I have, rather than one use things that expire after I die, which happens often. I do like the amped Smart Pistol, but feel that a card game/drop system was a silly thing to add to a mostly serious first person shooter.
Was sorta surprised that there are only 3 Titan chassis to choose from, and need to complete the INC campaign to get the Ogre, which seems to be more my style in the giant mecha department anyway. I'm not overly impressed with any of the Titan weaponry I have so far, which includes the following:
Chain gun, which is accurate and my current favored weapon, but does piddly damage against other titans and should never be given to the AI.
40mm cannon which feels way too inaccurate and slow firing, but the splash is nice against pilots and mooks. Hits fairly hard when it does hit, at least.
Rocket launcher, which feels extremely inaccurate and far too easy to dodge/counter due to the slowness of the ridiculously spiraling rockets, more of an ambush/support weapon than a straight fight one.
Plasma rifle, which I haven't really tested much, but is a bit of a sniper weapon from what I can tell with the charge mechanism on zoom.
The rocket salvo ability also doesn't feel like it goes where it should; did the people of the future not figure out how to make rockets that go in a straight line? It's visually impressive, but doesn't do much when you're trying to hit something twenty feet in front of you, and half the shots don't go where your reticule is.
On the campaign front, it has a bit of a Star Wars feel to it. The hotshot, all American Militia Rebels against the unnecessarily
Evil Brit INC Imperials, with some communist Russia accents thrown in for good measure. Can't comment much more on it, as it's a bit of an Excuse Plot, but I found it interesting that they made it a 6v6 campaign rather than just do some mediocre, anvilicious single player campaign with a life lesson about killing dogs or something. It is sorta annoying that no matter whether you win or lose, the outcome is just going to the next campaign battle, with absolutely nothing changed due to the result (except the ending movie, on the final mission), so far as I can tell.
