Yeah yeah, we get it, we all hate EA. No reason to preach to the choir.

So, for anyone actually playing the game, how groundbreaking is it? How far does it divert from the standard triple A CoD standard? Are the titans just a gimmick and it's another CoD clone? Or does Titanfall bring something new and interesting to the table?

Weren't these the guys that bashed BattleTech? Because a CoDalike with crappy little mechs is so much better.

Seriously though, if you're looking for a shooter that lets you call down stompy battlesuits, go with Blacklight: Retribution. It's free and actually has a tiny bit of spirit in it. :|

I don't understand all the hate. Titanfall is epic, and yet everyone is bashing it because 'lol EA' and 'lol made by COD guys'.

It IS a fun game, granted. I feel that Titans could have a bit more "oomph" behind them, but I'm having fun nonetheless. The only thing I fear, is that it will all grow stale pretty fast. I reached level 14 already and decided to let the game rest a bit. There isn't enough variety in the beta / demo for me. But that is to be expected, really.

I didn't intend on buying this game in the slightest, but having played it, I just might swing around. Once I see a few reviews though, variety is the spice of life. :)

i dont hate ea. i just dont like them.
however, the games they make borring and uninspired games. they do this on a very high technical level, but i somehow being technically sophisticated just isnt enough anymore to keep my attention.
im proably getting to old or played to many games.
im sure there is an audience for with ea games are awsome.

How can you not hate EA? Even if you didn't live through EA's history, there's Dungeon Keeper Mobile to point out that they're still assholes without any morals or even common sense.

How can you not hate EA?
i guess i am just mature enough to not hate a company for making products that dont appeal to me.
i dont know when it happend, but at some point in my life i realized i am not the center of the universe.

... realizing you're not the center of the universe is one of the reasons why people take so badly to some of what EA's done. Part of being a conscientious consumer is speaking against and not buying from companies with bad business practices, even if those bad practices hasn't directly impacted you.

I don't outright hate EA, I hate their actions. As long as they go hands off with the games that they publish I don't mind them being the publisher, they have a lot of money to make these games successful so I ain't going to 100% complain. BUT when they start trying to put microtransactions and shit into the games, thats when I get pissy at EA. Their whole Origin Distribuiter is the dumbest thing ever as it only holds EA Exclusive games and makes their list tiny and unhappy to deal with them...

there most likely is a reason there was no thread about this game before.
this forum proably is the worst suited website to discuss ea games.
as you see... just disliking ea and not buying their games puts you into a pro ea position here.

Ahaha, that's not just here, bud. EA is one of the most reviled companies in the industry pretty much anywhere you ask, and for good reason.

Because seriously, I'd like to be hyped for this. The core idea is cool. But a shooter made by CoD lead devs and EA is perhaps the worst sell you could come up with at this point, both in terms of perceived game quality and periphery support. If it lasts 6 months without any sound of DRM or the rest of EA's anti-consumer bullshit, the price goes down, and the raw gameplay footage (aka not the pre-scripted demo) looks like something more than CoD + mediocre jetpacks + stompy mech, I might pick it up.

In practical terms, I'm already worried. The jetpacking looks very much on-rails (and interviews with devs have already confirmed that that, the wall-running, and boarding attacks on mechs are all automated--e.g., either no control or QTEs) and limited to the predefined flat surfaces (notice how 90% of what they jump off of is the same metal grating?), while the mechs...

Going back to BL:R, which I mentioned earlier, because it had a similar issue. The core dilemma with mixed combat in a FPS is that when you have squishies and big, nasty vehicles, the drivers tend to rack up absurd amounts of kills, while the PBIs avoid them like the plague. Sure, it sounds good on paper, and of course it works when playing with bots, but I suspect that real matches would end up with most of the PBI indoors killing each other while the mechs run around playing grab-ass. Battlefield and PS/PS2 made it work by (respectively) giving PBI a ton of anti-vehicle weapons and making vehicles pretty weak, and by the above + giving everyone the ability to spawn in shitloads of vehicles. That's explicitly not the case here. And, even in those games, you still tend to get a lot of situations where people cower inside. I mean, granted, they could make the mechs unrepairable and weak enough to die to 2-3 rocket hits, but then they become a non-issue when every PBI carries a launcher and mechs die almost instantly.

Call me decidedly skeptical on this one. Everything they're doing has been done before and better, and it's EA + CoD devs trying to do it.
