To be honest, there are elements of the story that would, on the surface, make it boring, almost repellent, to many readers.  I mean, a young stubborn teenager wants to run away from home to make cheese.   That doesn't sound like a winner to me!  (good luck selling that story in Hollywood...) And yet... here we are!  Obviously you are doing something very right to keep us enchanted by the story.

I know this must be a lot of work, and I really appreciate that you are doing it.  Looking forward to the next installments!!!

* Rexfelum falls for the stupid trick and demonstrates credulity by posting it.

. . . The blazes?  How long has that been a functionality?

And is there anything more hiding in the forum code?

A number of secret smilies and a couple of obsure BBCode tags1, mostly. Also, /me and the [me] tags have worked for as long as I can remember, which means probably since the original switch to SMF.

Yes, but not yet. We have more story to squeeze out first, maybe even more teenage angst.

escape

Pffffft.  "Escape."

it's a shame that dwarves havent invented cannons yet.  Plump Helmet men are vaguely missile shaped-- I wonder about their aerodynamic qualities.

(What I am saying here, is Plump Helmet Man + Siege engine + Atmospheric Flight == WIN)

You can take plump helmet man cages and load them into catapults as ammo, with dfhacks siege-engine plugin. :)

I often throw hellfire landmines at invaders this way.

I...um.

Thanks...?

I'm sorry, that came out all wrong did it?

so erm.... if we were to use a dwarf fortress analogy....

What I was trying to say is that from a storytelling point of view, you didn't take an easy embark.  You took a challenging one, with difficult to find resources and potentially unfriendly neighbors.  But you rose to the challenge and crafted a great story.

* Ancalagon_TB hopes for the best!
