Realize that you won't know if/when Darkerdaffodil is reincarnated, because his body will still be here. So, there's nothing to wait for on that front. There's no reason to believe you've been heard or you haven't been heard; you just have to trust that Urist 306 will take care of it.

Finish your hauling job so you don't get yelled at, and then head down to the farms and see if the fortress already has a cheesemaker. Maybe you can spend some time apprenticing in your downtime?

I never did succeed at getting Nish Shamelorban to do anything useful with the... uh... corpse, though she did kill her own ghost several times--well, another ghost which I manually resurrected with gm-editor unlike this one--with forced fell moods (which produced the weirdness of having a justice page listing Nish as the victim, injured party, and witness as I recall *edit: nope, I was wrong, it just included her name under the crimes list below the two murders for some reason) but I did get her to make a crossbow out of her doppleganger and use it!

okay combine this with the fact ghost now can't fly (but have no gravity) and if you trap them on a retracting bridge you could pin one in the air and maybe build a bridge to lead a fey dwarf to murder them for their ghost bones. then there's the whole minecarts can kill ghosts or hit them.
