realize you forgot the one thing the nun did to get her calls answered. Pleasing your god first with an offering ... now Cowsea and Dagger alliance 2 might have different answer calls than say uhh Bloodtusk who the mascot god of this fort and currently working plumpy into a conquest murderfrenzy. that all said, man seeing dark bleak Dwarf fort reminds me the other Civs in masterworks are alot more cheerful. oh and misty needs to look for a masterpiece table to look at.

Except that they don't butcher animals that die in combat, only ones specifically brought in by hunters or slaughtered.

No, the actual issue is whether the animal (before its death) was wild or not.  If the animal had any degree of tameness (from semi-wild all the way up to domesticated), then its corpse is completely useless -- you can't butcher it.  Wild animals that are killed by the military and then hauled close to a butcher's shop (or, you can just build a butcher's shop next to the corpse) can be butchered just fine.  The same goes for the non-sentient mounts of sieging armies.

Since the donkey was a pack animal brought by a merchant caravan, I believe it counts as "wild" from Shielddawn's point of view.  They should be able to butcher it.  I think.

I'd like to point out that that was the point... Knapping stones is sort of a useless, frivolous task. All the more reason it needs to be done right now.

Also... I don't know if Misty knows any soul interactions? I guess she could always make elven-leather armour, but I don't think she's at that emotional state. _(Yet.) Besides, I think we ought to allow her a little bit of kindness, she's got a pretty long and traumatizing life ahead of her.

Alternatively! That would be an exceptional way for Misty to very quickly rank up in ShieldDawn's society. So... do we want

Realize that you won't know if/when Darkerdaffodil is reincarnated, because his body will still be here. So, there's nothing to wait for on that front. There's no reason to believe you've been heard or you haven't been heard; you just have to trust that Urist 306 will take care of it.

Finish your hauling job so you don't get yelled at, and then head down to the farms and see if the fortress already has a cheesemaker. Maybe you can spend some time apprenticing in your downtime?
