Do what no other dwarf knows how to do. Once Darkerdaffodil corpse is outside and in the corpse pile, put the seeds from the elven apple he traded you underneath it.

It would play into misty's choice of gods to worship as well. One of them was a god of reincarnation, after all.  A tree seems a fitting (and desirable) outcome for an elf to experience reincarnation, and it could have future implications when the new overseer insists that the tree be cut down (for growing in the refuse pile, and because it is made of wood.)

Welp it been awhile since I been here wanna say Crying in DF tend to lead to a horrible case of Headmelt if you stand near anything hot for too long.
the cure is to drink the tears before you hit bleeding and the blood start superheating and welp.

Misty currently in a crisis and know what would work well is if we talk to those gods... let's  see what would they have to say about Darkerdafilliio death:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
to be fair that elf super dead unless he gets reanimated/resurrected by Modded interactions of a wizard.
because he got his head smashed in by a warhammer, and mangled skulls is just enough to tick off no-reanimation from 'fit for reanimation' quota for vanilla necromancy.
that or do what Bookfire said and craft yourself a Flesh golem connected with the spirit of DarkerPhiladelphia

wait I forgot Boot we should find him now that we are freed up, maybe ask him to make ourselves a Flesh-golem out of those Corpse parts.

Misty: Don't cry, dear. It was inevitable. Go grab a wheelbarrow and dump him with the rest of his kin.
Alternatively you can eat him to honor his elven traditions and harvest his soul. Then use that soul to make cheese.

If donkey ate the apple core, and donkey is dead, it too will be in the corpse stockpile.

Given the state of this place, it's probably a bit "crowded" in there, so just put the elf corpse on top of the donkey corpse, and let nature take its course.

I thought the coup de grace for Darkerdaffodil was delivered by Iron Owl with an axe.  Not a hammer.  Am I thinking of the wrong elf?

It was definitely him, and I think the axe actually chopped into his chest (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=136384.msg5877703#msg5877703 ), so he's probably revivable as hell. Anyway, even if his head did get pulped, all they would have to do is chop it off and the rest of his body could be revived...

Darkerdaffodil: Rise, because necromancer attack.

The thing's right next to a tower after all.
Darkerdaffodil: BECOME the necromancer, force Misty into a moral quandary where she has to choose between her undead friend and the lives of shielddawn.

Misty: Become tragic hero by returning Darkerdaffodil to the god of Suicide and Reincarnation.

Darkerdaffodil: * reincarnate as a dwarven child, sans all the elven plants rights bs *

Donkey is ethically butcherable to dwarves, I don't think they'd waste it that way.

Brilliant solution:

Misty: find donkey tallow and make soap.

Clearly, the fort will value THIS skill more highly and we'll be promoted out of hauler!  And while we're at it, we can wash the blood off our hands!

More practical solution:

Misty: just don't look at the face.

Except that they don't butcher animals that die in combat, only ones specifically brought in by hunters or slaughtered. Some sort of purity custom, maybe? (Ok, it's a bug, but I like to think it's akin to kosher butchering or the like)

That is not true. They butcher animals killed by the military, its the only way I ever "hunt". The solution is making a corpse/refuse stockpile next to the butcher. It only works, if the target corpse is close by.
