Do not take the head.  He has no assigned tomb, so it is not appropriate to try to carry out a "Place Item in Tomb" job.

If Rimtar was the leader, and he's dead, then maybe Misty is the new leader.  I think we're being urged to take a more proactive stance in any case.

TELL the rest of the party, "Let's go around the zombies. They'll be too busy making their road to bother with us." Then start walking around them, expecting everyone to follow our lead.

Leave the head.  Sneak around the zombies and escape.

+1 Say a prayer for him to both Cowsea and Urist. Something along the lines of allowing him rebirth with a bit more sense, and that if he is reborn within your lifetime you would like Cowsea to send him your way so you can make some fine cheese for him.

If we're going to try to take charge, hold up the head and ask if anyone else wants to play hero.

This story is going to be great.

>Ask Rimtar Iridmedtob if he can make a cheese-cutter for you when you get to ShieldDawn. I mean, you ARE going to need one, right? And you should give the honor of making your cheese-cutter (who wouldn't be honored by making one for a soon-to-be Legendary Cheesemaker?) to someone you know, especially since he said you could come along! And surely a cheese-cutter isn't that much different than a weapon! Well, some of them aren't. On second thought maybe we need a metalcrafter... But it never hurts to ask!
Ah man. I just realized this will never happen now.    :(
Also, Rimtar is the only one from the mountainhomes Misty knew, yes?
Guess it kinda sucks that the first death she witnessed was of the only one she knew.
And isn't even that far from her home.

Postpone praying until we are in no immediate danger of being killed by zombies.

Why does everyone assume that the zombies are going to kill them? They acted in self-defense. They did nothing until attacked. They were building a road. They were more productive and helpful to the general population than every other character in this series.  >:(

Isn't that hostile action? I mean, it's denying our cultural identity of being workaholics without being productive! I'm not bowing down to some halfwit zombies taking our jobs!

Are you saying Dwarves are not people?
Comrades, I have found an elf!
Not in the technical sense of the word, but they are still more people than elves. Please don't kill me.
Also.

Much as I'd like to let him become a ghost to party with the zombies and passers-by, I think Misty should pick up the head. Rimtar is still the leader, so holding his head gives you his authority. If necessary, he can give orders via macabre ventriloquism.

Lead the party around the zombies, giving them a safe berth. If they're already moving aggressively towards us, pull back; if they continue pursuit, split the party into groups to take separate routes and meet up again past the zombies.

Or do this:

Kick head back, invent soccer/football.

Guys, I have the solution. :P
Misty, have actually just been considering what might happen if you didn't speak up.
In reality, stop  Rimtar before he goes on and point out to him that each of those zombies has some form of weapon, and they severely outnumber him. Refuse to allow him to do it, and instead propose sneaking around them, in order to alert a sizable force later on to take down the tower once and for all.

Yes, I am joking.

On the plus side, the group is now a nice solid seven.  If Reg and Holt catch up, we can afford to sacrifice two more suckers and still start our own fortress somewhere.

'Cause we sure aren't getting all the way to ShieldDawn with THIS crew.

Also, I'm terribly disappointed in how few cheese-related solutions have been proposed recently.  We do have that cheese prayer, so . . .

Circumvent the zombies.  Instruct Lokum that you shall be doing tandem prayer whilst walking quickly.  You pray for Rimtar (to both Cowsea and Urist as noted earlier).  Lokum prays that Armok accept this blood sacrifice in return for zombies not eating your brains.
