Especially the second one, which is applicable to many more things than just kobolds.

Reg: find an adorable little baby critter that tries to hide and leaves her trying to calm it down.

Holt: walk in shortly afterwards and ask Reg why she's cuddling a baby kobold.

Why are there so many commands telling the author what to write instead of commands telling characters what to do?

Seems a bit reverse Railroady, if that term makes sense.

It's all just user reader input. It doesn't matter.

Engraved is a superior rendition of an image of Arkoth, the local deity of balance and speech, and two elves. Arkoth is burning the two elves. Arkoth is laughing. The two elves are suffering. The image was commissioned by the Round Guild, a local dwarven government.

I do cherry-pick suggestions sometimes, but reader suggestions go a looong way in changing the story.  I have some suggestions from three months ago I'm still working on putting in.

"What's that - a map?!  Well hang on a second, let me take a look-see."

"...a bit...blood-stained for my taste, but it's as good a map as any, lass.  Well done!  I'm guessin' the last owner of this scrap of paper wasn't as lucky as we were.  By the looks of things, it seems like we got ourselves a bit south of the road here...well, this certainly makes things easier, I'll tell you that much.  Tomorrow morning, bright and early, we'll get ourselves back on the road and up north to Shielddawn.

I just hope wee lil' Misty won't be gettin' herself into any trouble before we can get there..."

Meanwhile...

"Holy cow."

"Correct."

"You're a talking cow!!!"

"...also correct, unfortunately."

That is possibly the least amused look I've ever seen on a cow. :D

I like the adventurer-syle map.

A (literally!) holy cow just has to be an avatar of Cowsea, the Cheese Goddess!  Misty prayed to Cowsea on the way here.  This must be the goddess's answer!

Thank Cowsea for her answer, and ask the cow whether she would like to be milked now.
