Slowpokez confirmed for oracle.

Actually, I took his suggestion and rolled with it.

I don't always quote suggestions when I take them, you know.  A huuuuge portion of this story is inspired/influenced by suggestions I didn't directly acknowledge.

Reg is a 15 year-old girl adult.

Edit: Not that it's ever stopped shippers before....

Technically, dwarves are generally considered adult at twelve.

And technically all we know for sure is that he's a fan of the Duke's butt. Perhaps he... cannot lie.

Captain Holt is a homosexual 165 year-old dwarf.

Now that's interesting, because homosexuality wasn't in the game in 0.34.x.  So our author is either importing some 0.40.x features, or isn't sticking to Dwarf Fortress mechanics at all.

Technically, dwarves are generally considered adult at twelve.

But dwarves also must be within 10 years of each other in age to become romantically involved.  That is, in Dwarf Fortress they do.  Maybe not in this story.

Honestly, this comic is only adhering to dwarf fortress game mechanics when it's funnier that way, and that's for the best in my opinion. Dwarves can't use bins to (badly) hide, don't do anything with toys/crafts other than sell them, and have their deities selected at birth in the game, to use a few examples of deviations from game mechanics.

We could probably use one more update to establish what Reg and Holt are going to do next before changing the POV; are they going to go back to the Mountainhomes or try to make it to Shielddawn?

Now, that said, at this point, I'd consider Reg more or less the deuteragonist to our protagonist (about 30% of the pages are from Reg's POV rather than Misty) rather than just a supporting character, and if the entire chapter is meant to cover her point of view, I'd be fine with that.

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

p much.

Well, her role has indeed evolved quite drastically since her initial conception as "Bumbling Guard #2".

Wow-you were only ever going to have them be a pair of bumbling idiots with no B plot line?

Well, nice job with the career advancement to them, then.

I didn't know that. Makes sense, but didn't know that.

I didn't have much in mind for this story past "escape the room" when I drew the first page.

That sounds like the legend of the dwarves in Lord of the Rings, that Durin the Deathless will wake and walk the earth....again. How pleasant, except you are plotting for the hero to be a zombie, rather than simply a completely-restored dwarf, thus creating another plotline. Why not a C plotline?

Are you plotting to make this plot really complicated and interesting or just plotting to drive our wonderful story-writer INSANE with extra plotlines?
