Gen 3 was the first generation where I really got into Pokemon, so I have an inherent nostalgia bias towards for it. In other words, I really like it. Looking back at it, the tropical theme is still something rather unique, with every other game being temperate. Also, since I started with gen 3, and rather enjoyed it, I was actually disappointed by how small the ocean in gen 4 was, and every other game hence forth.

I hadn't played much of R/S/E, only a little bit on Sapphire when a friend let me play his (which initially started my interest in pokemon), but I did play a lot of the Gen I remakes, so I do share this sentiment.

Also, the walking speed has never really bothered me with any of the Pokemon games.

Same here.  I like to have each of those hours be fully played by me, rather than a multiplication of how much I have played.

Ninja: Gen IV always sort of bothered me. It always had a sort of....tin feel to it? I can't really describe it. Sort of... fake, dead almost. It has never felt right.

I thought the game was fairly good.  Thought that might be because I was only truly exposed to the Gen III Red remake for any length of time.

I owned a few VHS tapes of Pokemon when I was really little, but had no idea that there ever were video games (the tapes somehow didn't have ads for them). I have no idea how I avoided this fact for so many years. I still call them "the Pokemon games" instead of just "Pokemon".

I had a bit of cheap fun with Blue, but I felt the age even without any frame of reference. Any battle that involved Sand Attack turned into an aggravating war of attrition, and I ultimately quit from the tedium of "Trainer gauntlet-Dungeon-HM and/or Item Get-Gym-repeat". I did get to see Lavender Town though, which is the coolest and also most depressing thing I have ever seen in Pokemon.

I'm really liking what I see of Gen II so far, with more unique locations like Sprout Tower and the place with the Unown. The less-screechy sound effects and music are much appreciated, but I'm still too early along to say much else.
