Believe me, I've played Emerald like last week. Took me a while to beat the sky tower even with save states.

_{Disclaimer: I have a terrible memory and already forgot that the Sky Tower does not have the fuckhard bicycle puzzle during the mandatory part.}

But I'm happy, it only means more chances for epic moments vs. Red  (even if it takes 4+ hours in between fights because lol encounter-rate)

Metal Gear is definitely our best bet to have in front to neutralize Battery Jesus but it seems we've run into an issue with that. We're going to have almost no PP by the time we reach Red from all the wild encounters >_<

We're getting close to battle #2 with only Ace down. EDIT: Scratch that, Brian is down now aswell. Jeez, we can't even survive Mt.Silver let alone Red.

Well, electric isnt' super effective against steel (it's got resistance against it though), and Steelix is Ground anyways so he's immune to that shit.

And I always tend to kill steel dudes with electric attacks myself, since they resist so much.

Steel is weak against fire, fighting and ground...at least that is notable, steelix gains a weakness to water from ground type, so either omastar or nidoking will get sent out as a counter after zaptos goes down.

The good thing is, Zapdos is by far the most dangerous of the lot, so if they get past it, the rest should be a cakewalk by comparison.

That is IF they retained the same levels they had before, I suspect all of them have been at least bumped up into the 70s if not evened out with the rest.

A play by play of our second battle against Red:

Entering battle with Red and we're already down Ace and Brian. Burrito is low on health.

Half-health Metal Gear is sent out against Battery Jesus

Battery Jesus Drill peck is critical, taking out a third of Metal Gear's total health. Metal Gear has no PP left so he struggles, barely doing any damage.

Drill peck again, taking Metal Gear down even more. Struggle again, taking more damage to himself

Drill Peck redlines Metal Gear. The Struggle continues.

Drill Peck takes Metal Gear down to 7hp! Leftovers help only slightly. One last Struggle before Battery Jesus takes him down with Drill peck.

Level 60 Katie is sent out.

Battery Jesus does what he does best and Thunders, taking Katie down to 19 hp from full health and paralyzes to boot. Katie Safeguards... *sigh*

One more thunder takes out Katie and Burrito is next up, who doesn't even get an attack on Battery before being Thunder-KO'ed

Lazrgatr is the last mon left. He's faster then Battery Jesus and deals a devastating surf, taking out half it's total health and bringing the legendary bird down to quarter health.

1 Thunder is all that's needed to OHKO the Gatr and its whiteout #2.

Well at least we know Metal Gear can take the best that AA-J can give. He just needs to be a full health and have some PP left in rock throw. Will be interesting when we get past it.

what's funny is that we still don't actually know if Red is actually using Red's old team exactly, or if the mons were just swapped.

Zapdos was lv81 when we won... but his normal pikachu that Zapdos is replacing was also lv81.

So we don't know how tough the rest of his team is gonna be at all!
