My problem with pokemon is that I want to catch all pokemon possible (in a route) and level all of my pokemon up.
This results in so much grinding by the time I get 10 or so pokemon I just quit.

That or I get a fucking Bidoof.

Yeah!  My time was 11:28 for the whole game, solo'd with Charmander starter only--and this was despite getting horribly lost in Viridian forest and needing to call up a friend, XD

Christ, Bidoofs. I'm just plain refusing to capture them, but they keep showing up. It would take one being Shiny to sway me at this point.

So I grabbed the save and decided to see what level Rick Gastly finally got up to.

Level 50 exactly.

Granted, I had to spend a good few hundred steps just getting back to Cerulean, but I think he was still well into level 50 before defeating the Elite Four.

I ended up doing a lot of that in White. Normally I'd just stick with my core team til I beat the game, but the exp curve made it more efficient to train up new mons as they were needed for a specific gym, which I found much tougher than in other pokemon games. I also like to catch all the mons on a route before I move on, but prefer to power level them in higher level areas once I beat the game (barring the previously mentioned situation).

I am petrified of buying a Pokemon game, because I just know that the next one will be released the instant I buy it. I very nearly bought Black 2 before discovering that the old DS Wifi servers are going to be shut down on May 20th.
