Ascension I: The Space Race (Illustrated Suggestion Game)
« on: February 14, 2014, 04:29:57 pm »

"Man masters nature not by force but by understanding. This is why science has succeeded where magic failed: because it has looked for no spell to cast over nature."
  - Jacob Bronowski

╞══════════════════════════════-ASCENSION-══════════════════════════════╡

The year is 1950 -- the world has long since relied on the power of magic to survive and prosper, forming a unity between the races of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Goblins. But the age of magic has been abandoned, leaving area for new types of research and technologies that both use magic and modern science. Lead your people to explore the many disciplines of science and achieve the ultimate goal -- space.
In Ascension, the goal is to research various types of sciences and explore outer space. You must compete against the other four races to achieve this goal and win ultimate victory for your people. Technology consists of a hybrid of both magic and technology, and with the invention of the modern rocket engine a space race was sparked between the four races. You will follow a tech-tree to organize your scientific ambitions, from a simple solar panel to the FTL drive.

Let's go for dwarfs, they're the traditional industrious race, and they're also small, which should reduce spacecraft costs.

In the name of Jeebus, good lord those maps are beautiful.
I say goblins. Ramshackle rustbuckets running on a philosophy of MOAR BOOSTERS and duct tape painted bright red screaming into the sky with cackling creatures at the helm brings out the inner mad scientist in me. Think Gru's rocket from Despicable Me. Let's go steal the moon.
Besides, who ever saw a purple spy satellite?

No one, because they're that good!

Anyway, I vote for goblin. with a bit of luck, we have a demon law-giver that we can use as an engine.

1. Goblins =/= orks.
2. Gru's rocket was actually not rustbuckety at all, IIRC.
3. I vote dwarves for reasons others have stated. Strike the Mars!

Posting to watch. And I suppose I'm going to put my support towards a dwarven space program.

I vote elves eldars.

Defaulting to dwarves in case of tie between them and goblins.
