Cabel, a bit belatedly, began moving towards his lord, smiling maliciously as the figure who had assaulted his charge fell with his head bent at a disturbing angle.

: "Valeria, Hix, why don't we take the fight to them? On the left, there; if you can keep the mage busy, Hix, I can deal with the archer."

: "Sir Banal, if you could please support us by dealing with any axemen who try to assault our persons, I believe that we'd all be most grateful. Your sword-arm isn't shabby at all; I can see why Sir William hired you."

He nodded companionably to his lord as he strode past, making his way to high ground so that he might survey the awaiting foes.

A trio of murderers ganged upon poor Hix; but besides getting a bit singed, the shaman went through the assault pretty well.

As he strides forward, he turns to see where the rest of the group is, and notices his lord is injured whilst enemies approach. Unable to fall back and leave his friend unaided, he cries out in frustration and charges past the shaman to impale the enemy mage through the neck, before turning his sights back to the axeman and archer before him.

"Damn you, fiends! I'll put you down like the dogs you are!"

The onslaught forced Hix to be light on his heels, dodging each blow aimed towards him. He took another moment to fire off another swarm as he backpedaled away from the axeman.
