Best Dwarfing Music?
« on: February 14, 2014, 04:05:14 am »

I was wondering what music you guys like to listen to while you build and manipulate your worlds and dwarfs. I know I like the Pandora Channels

But I'm always looking for something to set the dwarfing mood and give some imagination encouragement.

I usually play with some piece of Mike Oldfield in the background. Music of the Spheres and Songs of the Distant Earth (both are albums) have been my favorites so far, it's quite atmospheric.
BTW, if you don't know who this guy is, he's the author of Tubular Bells, which was made famous by the movie "The Exorcist" which used the piano intro as a theme song. I'd describe it as "ambient rock", give or take.

I prefer slaves to armok 1's battle music when being attacked by a siege or ambush.

When I saw it was a cover I didn't have high hopes, but this was really damn good.

As far as my own dwarfing music, I usually listen to this:

I actually don't usually listen to music while playing DF, but when I do it's usually something from Stronghold.  It's pretty appropriate I suppose since Stronghold is a castle sim game.

Siege music:
Stix and Stones

General music (for non evil biomes anyway):
Under an Old Tree

For evil biomes I actually prefer the Ikana Canyon music from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask:
Ikana Canyon
