Lucien unzips his tent and pokes his head out, "Will you lot keep it down. I already can't sleep from the pain from my foot, and I don't need you lot not helping." Lucien makes a sigh and tries to go back to sleep mumbling something about the gods not sending them a healer with the caravan.

Vajra just stares at everyone as does.

Solairi raised her hand. "Why accept ssservitude? Bound in a rock. Where'sss the freedom? If they refuse your ordersss, would they sssimply not be trapped sssstill in their ssstonesss. Confined. Not a true choice. Chainsss or a cell. A false choice."

(( Yup all cleared with him, it'll make sense soon. Thats his appearance he can have normal arms but he's Vjara the snake warrior for a reason. ))

"Indeed they do, but perhaps you should ask them why they follow my orders rather then me. It would be more polite. As for why they are my comrades well that's simple. I consider them to be friends and summons would be an insult where as comrade or friend is not."
"The details aren't terribly important; if they're willing, they're willing. The question is...well, are they? Is there a way out? And how do non-sentient beings, let alone the dead, give consent?"

"If they refuse then again as I showed in Almas case. I am capable of and willing to free them either to send there spirits to rest or with a new body. I won't condemn them to live like that if they don't wish it.

As for why they are sealed.
"

Torban motions towards the pair and 8 blades steps forward.

"I served as a retainer in life devoted to my master and my art. I developed such skill with blades that the elements themselves bowed to me. My master died and I ascended to become a celestial but that is not the life I would choose and so I allowed a summoner to seal me. He died and I was found and offered my services to Torban to defend him for so long as he wishes it or until I choose to leave and then I am free to return to solitude, to move on or to be given a new form.
Eternal peace holds no attraction to me.
"

As he finishes he steps back and Vjara steps forward.

"I was known as the snake warrior in life and lived for war, when I died I was sealed by a summoner of my people so that I might continue to do battle until he died and my stone was lost. Torban found me and fought a creature of considerable strength with courage and honor and so I agreed to serve him in battle. I am free to leave if I wish as my fellow warrior is but I choose to serve Torban instead."

Torban steps forward then to continue.

"In those wolves position I would want to protect my young, I raised them as undead and then bound them into a stone and in doing so they regained there minds though they were fused. They have as much free will as these 2 do and can choose to end that service any time they wish. They remain with me because they saw that I would care for there young and wished to protect them. As undead they would be mindless in this form they still live.
When those young are gone Wolfenstien can leave or remain as it wills.

I do not hold them prisoner or bind them unwillingly. They choose to serve with me and I treat them with the honor and respect they deserve.

Zita suddenly speaks up, "A terribly inefficient system, isn't it?"

"Is violence as Alma performed the only way out of a summoner's contract?"

"In what way?"

"You must find these summons and convince them to join your cause. And if they suddenly disagree with your actions they can leave at any time. Magic is a tool to be used to make our lives easier. Yet summoning is no different from searching a city for strong warriors and signing a contract for them to help you. How is that possibly a worth-while investment of your time and energy?"

"All they have to do is change there mind and they can break they can break the connection. However doing so would leave them trapped. I however am more then willing to free them with a new body if they wish it as I did with her.

I chose to heal her and provide a body in the full knowledge it would release her because she had not chosen to be bound. Her reaction was perfectly understandable which is why Wolfenstien defended her even as she harmed me. SHe had every right to kill me.

It is worth it for several reasons, one they require no sleep, no food, no water they are awake and aware at all times meaning even as I sleep I am watched over and they can awaken me to danger. They also cannot be killed. There body can be destroyed but they simply return to the stone to recover. What good is a mighty warrior if his armed is cut off? Or he dies?

These warriors will always recover from even the most serious of wounds in a matter of hours and will continue to grow more powerful as I do. A warrior grows old and weak these warriors do not.

"And how do you provide a new body, out of curiosity? Mangle one together like your wolf abomination? Maybe ssssome ssslaves like their chainsss. But the ssstink of it is foul to me. In the end, they are bound to the whims of another. You can choose to free them. You could also choose to toss them in the ocean, never to be found. They have no choice in that."

"Golems also require no sleep, food, water and are awake at all times. They are also easily replaceable and repairable, and will never tire or falter in their work. The same can be said for the undead and other magical constructs. Summons may be stronger than the average warrior, but they still have their own minds and desires. Relying on them to defend and serve you is foolish."

"As I did with Alma. With a powerful unique mana font like that golems if I funnel enough mana into them they can generate a new body. WOlfenstiens I had no choice with it's was the only available option and not something I had done before.

If he wishes for a new real body and to be revived I'm perfectly happy to do it for him.

I'd prefer you not condemn me for the actions of others. Some summoners may behave that way but I do not. They are comrades with free will and I will treat them as I would any friend which is considerably better then many living people ever experience.
I have never and will never treat my comrades as anything less then I would wish for myself.

It is only foolish to one who does not know honor and trust. I trust them with my lives and treat them with honor and they do the same with me. It is the bond we have shared since the moment we were bound. I see into them for who they truly are as they see into me.

Carl frowned. "This is all good and well, but...what power enforces your doing so?"
