"Enjoy?"  The question seemed odd to her, and she wondered if she had misinterpreted something.  "You wanted a demonstration to hone your own ability, no?"

"That doesn't mean you can't enjoy doing it."

Solairi wandered over to watch. "Sssparring, centaur? Interesssting."

Cymea was spared answering his question by Solairi's approach.  "Yes."  She suddenly tossed the other stave to Kyle.  "Instead of live steel.  Bruises teach as well, and heal faster," she said, a trifle brusquely.

"I learned with live sssteel. Encourages to dodge fassster." She grinned wickedly.

Kyle nods and gets into his normal stance though modified for the stave.

This prompts a fleeting smile, as she turns to look at Solairi, apparently taking her attention off Kyle for the moment.  "No spell-healers here, save for summons.  Our potions are few, and these lands unknown.  Best not be healing the slow way if danger comes."  Without warning, she spun and lashed out with the stave at Kyle.  After the first couple blows, she nodded slightly.  "Then I will teach you how to skirmish, to not just dodge, but also fight always on the move.  Good for a polearm, and good for your sword."

"To be fair, when I fought I didn't really have much room to work with."

She nodded, silent acknowledgment to her style of battle's primary weakness.  "You fought well against the golem.  If you fight in close, change the field of battle if you can, or embrace it if you must.  Even in close, moving your feet confuses your signals to the enemy, conceals any tell they may read."  By example, as she continued to move around him, she shifted as though to move left in a wide arc, and only the very last second threw herself forward past and just to the right of Kyle, drawing the redirected momentum into another blow.

[15 vs 24] Kyle practices Skirmisher with Cymea, but Kyle just can't get the hang of it it seems.

Perhaps it was the unfamiliar weapon, but Kyle didn't seem to be improving much.  Though he was still dodging her attacks quite well, she could still read his movements too easily, and through them his attacks.  Finally, after she deflected another counterblow easily, she followed through, pushing in close and using her own stave, combined with the force of her movement as a lever to flip his stave out of his hands.  As it clattered to the ground, she shook her head slightly.  "Enough.  One day is not enough to learn all, and you are slowing."

((I asked if you wanted me to try to train you in polearms. Another summon was put into a pokeball binding. Kyle flirted at people.))

Solairi laughed and jeered good naturedly at every blow Kyle took. "Gah-hah-hah! Not ssso sssmooth, Kyle Johnssson. It ssseems you cannot handle your ssstave with the good dyrad."

Kyle just shrugs.

Lucien looks over at Carl, "Still have two days of journey to go. We are just stopping here for the night." Lucien turns and looks at Kyle and Cymea sparring, "Come on Kyle, Keep your wits about you."
