During a keeper game, after beating several attacks and one "final attack" i reached the point i could rise several vampire lords

I decided then to possess one of them, equip myself with the chain armor from a knight (as it was better than what that vampire lord was wearing), then i went to attack one of the village alone (so my army stayed at my Keep to prevent a nasty attack without defenders to stop them), and noticed that it was a castle.

At the entrance of the castle i butchered several enemies, until the Duke of Tethe'all appeared, the fight was long as i guess both adversaries were high end , and then probably high defenses and health.
At some point my Vampire Lord gained the advantage :

The Duke retreated, while some of his soldiers appeared at the gate (i entered the caste once and noticed there were still several soldiers behind the Duke).

During the time of that battle, i had a message telling me of an attack and another about a "final attack" ... from the castle i was attacking, and i saw none moving out of that entrance.

At that point i started to miss every of my attacks, and noticed that i had no more weapon, in fact it was on the ground ... with my arm, meaning no more weapon at all, i decided to move back and gather the other vampire lords that were still in my keep.

While the enemy soldiers were following me , much slower than the Vampire Lord i gained some distance easily.

Once i entered my keep, a message told me the enemy was actually defeated (despite it's obvious they were not, the Duke was still alive and there was a bunch of soldier trying to find my Vampire Lord) , followed a couple of second later by the game over panel with all the stats telling me that i won ?

Did you actually see them while they were supposedly defeated? Maybe a boulder killed them?

Unless there was a boulder that i had not placed myself but that the AI placed inside the forest, i don't think that a possiblity as the boulder traps i placed were inside a serie of long corridors inside of my keep, and when the game announcement that i won appeared i was just entering in my keep , i had not yet reached my trapped corridors zone.

The enemies that were following my vampire lord were far behind too, as they're much slower they were still in the forest.

OP ambitiously assumes what I come to Other Games board for.

OP turns out to absolutely right.

Just a note, you can continue fighting with a sword after you've lost an arm. You just need to pick it up and re-equip it again.

Can arms fly away ?
I'm pretty sure there was only 1 arm on the ground when my Vampire Lord lost the ability to wield a weapon, i even had the "no hands" message when trying to re-equip it.
I didn't noticed any other arm on the field

edit : crashed just when an iron golem was killing an elf lord in a corridor of my keep, i wasn't leading any squad, the game was real time

The amusing thing to me is that it seems, at least when you're controlling critters, getting your head chopped off doesn't really slow you down. I've had it happen while possessing golems, vampires, and the named humanoids. Fairly funny when you release a minion to see its head laying on the floor, and then the critter just trundles off back to work.

For a golem i think it makes sense that losing the head does not stop it, after all it's some kind of magically animated material, a golem having a "head" is just a cosmetic choice of the spellcaster , the golem does not need any of that :D

It works that way for all undead and golems (some of the named humanoids can be undead). You get some penalty for every body part chopped of, and after a few you fall apart.

I think your pause issue is caused by the game not being the active window in your OS.  If the game is not the active window then it will still accept mouse commands but the keyboard commands will go to your desktop.  Clicking on the game program area wont make it the active window, you have to click on the window frame at the top.

Is there anyway to make equipment as a keeper?

That's very likely it thanks, as i usually do other things while the game is running, i switch from keeperrl to something else and back, the same way as i do in DF, i'll have to click on the window frame next time i observe the loss of pausing, that's something i didn't tried.

Sooo, I decided to give this a whirl.  Adventurer mode at first, of course. >.> Just found something more about this infinite pause bug.

Had the game below for a while whilst in minion-control mode and as soon as I turned back to the game, and unsummoned the minion, the game got stuck in an infinite pause. It appears you can click on a command (switching tabs, minion selection via the minion tab, etc), press ESC and N, and the command will be "processed".

Couldn't get into minion-control mode again, though. Also I kept getting waves of attacks every few times of doing the aforementioned and each of them got defeated magically (I had ten imps, and a golem) till the game crashed.

Adventurer mode is basically flawless, though. Especially the magic mushrooms and Angels.

I was planning to gradually make the game longer until it lasts many hours, but it seems like players enjoy the fast-paced gameplay.  I could work on making it more deep, allow more strategies, but stay within the 30-60 minute frame. What do you think?

Noooooo, make the game longer. I like this game, but it is to short/fast.

This game is cool, ijust downloaded it.

I am the only one who keeps trying to control it with DF keys? I just can't stop myself.

The power of trapped corridors can be tremendous if you don't build labs that will distract your minions from the workshops (but no lab = no golems)

After a few waves, no invader even breached into the main halls of my keep

The important part is the location of the boulders, you must place them in a way the imps while moving diagonally will be able to get access to the other part of the corridors like in my screenshot, if you make the mistake of putting a boulder in the middle of a corridor, it will block the imps once one of them will have filled the trap.

And sometime when the imps refill the traps they may not make it in the most desired way, and they may refill a boulder at the very end of your trap zone and then that will prevent them access to every other traps in the corridor.
A non refilled trap being useless, it could be fatal.

That said, the big last "final attack", involving a Duke fell to my trap zone.
But the Duke while wounded and a couple of his troopers managed to reach and breach into my main halls.

Note the amount of corpses in the trap zone, multi-poisonned and crushed by boulders , that's probably the biggest "final attack" i saw so far.

Unfortunately for the surviving Duke, in the main halls there were highly trained goblins and gnomes , full well equiped and he couldn't last much, he managed to kill a couple of my minions, but he was doomed at the moment he entered the place.

That big wave contributed certainly in my highest score so far :

Maybe in the future it could be interesting as a challenge to see some special hero/leader with some digging ability to circumvent your carefully planned trap corridors and force you to revise your defenses
