Sooo, I decided to give this a whirl.  Adventurer mode at first, of course. >.> Just found something more about this infinite pause bug.

Had the game below for a while whilst in minion-control mode and as soon as I turned back to the game, and unsummoned the minion, the game got stuck in an infinite pause. It appears you can click on a command (switching tabs, minion selection via the minion tab, etc), press ESC and N, and the command will be "processed".

Couldn't get into minion-control mode again, though. Also I kept getting waves of attacks every few times of doing the aforementioned and each of them got defeated magically (I had ten imps, and a golem) till the game crashed.

Adventurer mode is basically flawless, though. Especially the magic mushrooms and Angels.

Sounds like exactly what I was talking about two posts before yours.

What does the end of the 'adventurer' mode consist of? Horrible death? I'm liking everything about this [and PTW].

!!FUN!!. Or to be specific; rock and roll (death by boulders), drugs (death by gas traps), and love (death by monsters).

Tone is not carried very well with text, so pardon me if I misunderstand your post. If you are signalling that my post is just a repeat of yours, I'm afraid that's not the case as I posted my own post in regards to the discovery (for lack of a better word) of the temporarily "unpausing" ESC and N (that was not mentioned before in the thread I believe) and the self-defeating waves that are caused as a result of said method.

Just tried it. It's fun. I won by spamming named minions, vampire lords, and training posts. Who needs strategy when you have overwhelming force. :D None of my named minions died. I'm not sure what libraries do. Faster mana regen? It's faster to kill folks for mana.

Apparently you need a certain amount of library squares to research higher tier stuff? I haven't really noticed, m'self.

Beyond that, more libraries are also more things that can catch on fire, haha! And your keeper defaults to standing in them, so they're nice firehoney traps for your keeper, for when you want to die a horrible death.

At a glance, this looks really cool.

In adventurer mode, i have been trying some of the scrolls, there's one of them "combustio", that when read have the scroll starting to burn.
And the most amusing is that if you don't throw it, you're going to burn with it every turns.

It can be a nice weapon to throw at some monsters though.

During my random road following (nice idea that CTRL+direction) i found on the roadside some tombs.

Coming back from the elven village i ended into, i found some stairs, the inside was as expected full of zombies, the couple of "combustio" items were put to good use as they were numerous, and the corridors offered some nice place for them to gather and burn :)

Yeah, that combustio scroll was pretty neat. Actually got one in keeper mode (villages can have stores! Shopkeeper can be killed, free amulets, etc., etc.), which I promptly used to set fire to a castle.

Or, well, leave a bonfire at the entrance and immolate a few peasants as they fled from my 10th level named humanoid running around with speed boots (also shop) and an antique axe (duke!)

I like the Alpha 3 Keeper mode, no spells or mana but nice that you can go invade the dwarves/lower levels with your minions and grab some nice loot, also game doesn't end once you beat the final wave, would be nice to have those two things in Alpha 6

I'm pretty sure I just read a scroll that threw a whole bunch of gold coins at my enemies. That was...interesting.

The game is pretty fun, especially considering an alpha. Never played Dungeon Keeper, but it is kind of like DF in a way. Watching this thread.

Welp, I thought Vampire Lords were absurdly strong, but then I discovered the top level Named Beasts. I tried a game using them as an addition to my forces, but discovered that they are annoying to control as they tend to wander the wilderness. However, I also observed that they are insanely strong; first level creatures with stats like 45 attack and 35 defence!

So I tried an experiment. I didn't build a "real" dungeon, I just made a storage area, library and treasury built completely open as fast as possible while rushing for the high level beasts. I then explored my way to the village and castle, placing cages outside the castle entrance and near the elf village. Finally, once I had enough mana, I began bringing in Named Beasts. The result?

Well, it was the most hilariously easy and one sided fight ever. The first beast strolled into the castle, easily murdered the gate guards, and generated an absurd amount of mana for me. After this, all I really had to do was create more beasts, who quickly killed a bunch of people, generating more mana to get more beasts. The Duke and Elf Lord were capable of killing them, but that was with a fair amount of backup, so once the beasts started to overrun them they died pretty fast. I didn't even need to do anything.

I tried various variations such as training up my keeper in magic, equipping him with black market potions, and sending him directly into battle while looting bodies to increase his stats. In the process, I somehow lit the forest near the Elf village on fire and killed about ten of them inadvertently, including the Elf Lord. Anyhow, it became quickly apparent that Beast Rushing is easily the fastest, most efficient and easiest way to win the game, even beating out Vampire Lord Spamming. I actually wiped out the castle without them even attacking once, and most other times I beat the castle and village after maybe one or two attacks (very hilarious attacks, in which the "attackers" were massacred at their own front gates).

On the other hand, how do the skills in Adventure Mode work? So far as I can tell I don't level up, and while I can become exceptionally powerful through high level items and enchanting items, I suspect that will only go so far (for reference, the best I've done is reach the 5th level of the dungeon with about 33 defense and 25 attack before being eaten by a kraken).

Also, this might possibly be a glitch; stealing from the shopkeeper results in the entire town coming after you, but brutally murdering him beforehand will let you get away with it scot free. Even better, the optimal way to murder him is to hit him with his own sleep potion before stabbing him to death, so you can use stolen items to rob him (he only has one health potion and his stats are about equal to yours, so if you have the jump on him you should have an easy time killing him). This provides fairly substantial boosts in early game.

The person supporting regenerating health, when asked why you can see when shot in the eye justified it as 'you put on an eyepatch'. When asked what happens when you are then shot in the other eye, he said that you put an eyepatch on that eye. When asked how you'd be able to see, he said that your first eye would have healed by then.

I ran again into an incredibly strong Duke , he broke in my main hall and destroyed alone my leveled defenders : 4 fire golems, 2 iron golems, 5 stone golems, 5 gnomes and a couple goblins that were all surrounding him !

Sometime the game seem to generate insane leaders, unless i had insane bad luck on this specific game, i couldn't believe how that Duke was destroying my strong guys that easily.

One thing I discovered about dukes (which may or may not be exact) is that it's virtually impossible to kill them with melee. I had eight lava golems go on one without any success.

The trap corridor method you mentioned at the start of the page was the only thing that helped me kill a few, so you might wanna try that with five boulder traps and a dozen gas traps. >.>
