Question.

Where do we get the money to buy decent quality weapons and armor? That is going to be extremely costly and we aren't exactly right. I'd rather have to buy in some food which is easier to acquire and cheaper then buy in weapons and armor which are more difficult and a hell of a lot more costly.
But I think I can manage to sustain a group of students and use them in a way that will make it worthwhile and the smiths. Well a smith who can make tools and weapons is more useful then a smith who can only make tools so if I can get one or two then I will. If not I'll find another way to prepare everything.

I'm not expecting to make a fully armed army in a month but I can certainly get well under way in that time. Enough that it gives us a fighting chance.
I don't actually think we need it yet, myself, but you seem absolutely set on it, so I'm offering alternatives.  As for how to actually pay for it, credit.  If these myriad powers-that-be want us to build up a town on gnoll land, they can put their money where their mouths are and at least put some cold hard currency behind us, or at least back it with something that can be used to obtain credit, or else hand us cast-offs from the town guard or something.  For convincing them to do that, I recommend bringing Lucien to help shake them down, since he knows who needs shaking.  Besides, we'd need to buy it either way, unless you're suggesting bringing the smiths up and nationalizing everything they produce for the "good of the state", at which point they'll start asking themselves why in the blue devil's name they're sticking around for a bunch of self-styled adventurers who are just going to confiscate everything they make in return for a pittance.

EDIT:
But, since the topic of money's come up, it might be worth bouncing around the idea of a colonial charter company.  Depending on how advanced economics are back home, a company selling stock in the colony is a good way to raise money, especially since we aren't a crown colony.  It does, however, make us beholden to those back home, and will force us to turn a profit.

I didn't say godlike, again your putting words in my mouth. I said a fighting chance, nothing more. A pair of smiths and ore I can hopefully find means better weaponry and armor which boosts our fighting ability and that of any people we bring in.
Well...consider what happened. Us, several highly-trained individuals, several with magic, had trouble against a gnoll patrol. How many men, even armed and armored with steel we get from somewhere, would it take for a proper attack to end with anything but an utter slaughter?

And again you're resorting to being a bit of a jerk, utterly self-absorbed and convinced that the rest of us are idiots and that your character leaving is at all a threat. Go ahead, go. I'd be glad.

Lucien isn't going to be around. Sanure did say a while ago he's going to be dead shortly. He's not an option.

I'll handle my own recruitment, feeding my people, housing my people and everything else to do with them on my own. It won't cost the village anything we'll stay out of your way and leave you to your own devices whatever happens.

And again, words in my mouth. I didn't once mention leaving I said I'd handle my business and you all handle yours and two can make that argument. Every time I've made a plan for something you've argued against it and whats happened? I've been correct. I haven't at any time said your idiots or stupid I've said in my opinion this is right. As I've said many times before. You have your opinion and I have mine. The fact that my opinion does not match yours is not an insult. It's simply an opinion. Acting separate from the village doesn't mean leaving it means I'll be handle my people myself without weighing the rest of you down.

I believe I need to do this and so I'm going to do it with or without your help. I'd prefer to do it with it but if the rest of you disagree then thats fine I'll do it on my own because I'd rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. I have listened to what you've said and I intend to look for a way to get what I want in a way that doesn't harm the village if it's at all possible but until it happens I don't know if it is or not.
At this point it's your opinion that this will be to costly and that it won't work based on nothing but assumption.
It's mine that it can be done without being to costly and that it will work also on my assumptions. Neither of us has anything more then assumption at this point.

...actually, I'm tired of the arguing.  Incessantly, incessantly, incessantly.  Have fun, because I'm certainly not, and I have little intention of investing good time after bad in what, in the end, is only a forum game.  I don't care about bad things happening in-character; gods, look at some of the disasters that have struck some games I've played in the past, here and on other forums.  I do care about this bad blood that seems to be brewing, and I'll not have any part of it any further.  To the two of you, Alexandria who wishes to play her own little game with her own little village, and GreatWyrmGold, who attributes far more bad feeling and arrogance to her posts than seems to exist and reads far too much malice into her disagreements, thus reacting with entirely too much ire, I bid you two continue as you wish, and to the remainder of the players, I can only proffer my apologies and wish for the best of luck.

I'm not trying to play my own game with my own village. I'm not getting much alternative but to do things on my own because without fail every single thing I have tried to do has been rejected immediately.

So it's become a case of either work my own way or hand over my character to be controlled by everybody else. I'm trying to compromise, I've listened to your opinion and I'm going to try and do it in a way that fits what you suggested that much I can promise and I'm sorry this pointless arguing has put you off the game. I've tried everything I can think of to avoid this happening and in most cases I've managed to make peace with the people involved.
If you have any advice I'd be grateful.

Lucien isn't going to be around. Sanure did say a while ago he's going to be dead shortly. He's not an option.
...So? When did my argument come within earshot of Lucien?

Somehow, I don't think you understand what you're saying. It seems to me like you're saying you're going to make your own whole entirely separate village. Before we even have one village up.
How the hell do you epect to do that?

Quote
Every time I've made a plan for something you've argued against it and whats happened? I've been correct. I haven't at any time said your idiots or stupid I've said in my opinion this is right. Look, you may have been right sometimes, but you have not been right every time, and saying that a history of not always being wrong means your arguments are right and mine are wrong implies that my arguments are always wrong, which implies that I am stupid since I keep arguing them and not following your orders, which is an insult you idiot.
Worse, most of the time that you've been right is because the game has been ignoring logic, like it would be if you're right this time and you get enough possible migrants that you can be choosy. And that's ignoring all the arguments we've been having about somewhat subjective matters (like if you should share your plans IC or expect us to ask you in the middle of battle when we don't know you have a plan) and you can always claim you were in the right.

I'm sick of dealing you and sick of arguing with you. This game isn't any fun at all.

I'm not trying to play my own game with my own village. I'm not getting much alternative but to do things on my own because without fail every single thing I have tried to do has been rejected immediately.
1.
If the rest of you don't agree then I'll handle feeding them and covering the costs on my own and we'll leave you all to your own devices. I have no problem with leaving you all to your own devices and dealing with mine on my own.
Explain those.
2. "Every single thing [you] try to do has been rejected immediately"? No, not true. We've agreed with you sometimes. And as for the rest of the time...well, if everyone was usually arguing against my ideas, I'd be reconsidering my ideas.

Quote
So it's become a case of either work my own way or hand over my character to be controlled by everybody else.
You've damn near asked us to hand our characters' control over to you more than once. To say nothing of how you're taking over our village's relations with other villages.

Alexandria, two people have said they're not having fun and the reason is largely due to you. I'm not going to ask you to do anything but think about that.

GWG. Just stop.

Culise has quit because of this argument an argument I point out that didn't start until you butted in.
He said it was due to both of us not largely me. Both of us. I apologized to him for it and accepted my part in it.
You've decided to push as much blame as you can onto me and continue the argument. I think this makes my point for me nicely, look back to the beginning of the discussion and read it through, or better yet do it with each one that became an argument. It was perfectly civil and reasonable right up to the moment you got involved. I'm not the one who instigates these argument. You are, that doesn't excuse my part in it however so I apologize again to Culise and the rest of you for my part in this.

So your added to my ignore list in the interest of not wasting any more of my life on a pointless argument. I'm sorry all the rest of you, I know you wanted me to be the bigger woman and I have tried to be. I went along with your requests to try and make peace and get along with him out of respect for you and gratitude for your attempts to help me put this to rest. I apologize for being unable to do so.

Sanure I withdraw my objection to your solution. I was wrong to hope it could be avoided.

And again you haven't read the message.

I admitted my part multiple times and apologized for it multiple times, I sent another apology for my part in it by pm as well afterwards. I can quote it for you if you missed it.

You've done what exactly? Continue arguing after it pushed him out of the game, put words in his mouth that contradict what he himself said and ignore most of what I said to take a single line out of context.

I leave for two days due to a cold and I've lost two players thanks to the constant arguing. I have said four, maybe five, times that if you were going to argue then to take it up with me or leave. Both GWG and Alexandria are out.

Now to see if I can't get Culise and USEC back...

If you change your mind I'm available Sanure but now my questions.

1. Can players invent an organization to fit in a backstory? With your approval of the organization of course.
2. Can spellblade be taken as a skill rather then profession?
2.5 Can spellblade work other kinds of weapons like bow and arrows?

1.Yes, So long as it gets my approval.
2. Must be taken as a profession. Granted this can be bypassed by taking Swordsmanship and spellcraft as skills (if the race you chose doesn't already have one or both of them.
3. Yes. Works best with a sword, but can be used with Hammers, bows, maces, axes, spears, etc.

Ok I'll work out what I want the order to be and send you the idea, I'd rather not clutter this until I have a full grasp of what I'm making.

Sanure is off for a while so the order information will come later once we finish discussing it but I wanted to fill you in and c 've a chance for you all to make requests or suggestions for it.

I'm creating a multiracial order of ranger adjacent warriors. To be precise they a're hand picked to join if they meet the se criteria. A powerful sense of honor and duty. Exceptional skill with bow and sword. Exceptional skill in stealth and tracking and finally magical potential.

The order was founded by a very wealthy man who sought a way to uphold justice across racial borders and in time evolved into a warrior order that also defends those the grandmaster declares under our protection. It is funded descreetly by leaders of many races and it's actions largely ignored so long as they do not abuse there status. Each ranger is trained in archery, swordsmanship, stealth, tracking and spellcraft. Specifically the ability to.imbue weapons with special traits.

The order is made up of elves, humans and feline rangers those being the groups best suited to it and is well known for honor and courage.

That's what we've got so far, if any key would like to make any suggestions or requests I'm open to them.
