Though we could both go and split the work.
Aye, sure. I may grab a couple of shipbuilders in particular :P

Well as far as I can see it we need.

Weaponsmiths.
Armorers.
Bowyers.
Builders.
Shipbuilders.
Masons.
Carpenters.
At least 4-5 skilled warriors each skilled in a different melee weapon.
At least 3 skilled ranged fighters for throwing weapons, archers and crossbows.

Magic I more or less have covered with the exception of Geomancy but if any of my students want to learn that they can always go to USEC for it once I graduate them from my academy if I don't find one who knows geomancy when I'm recruiting.

Then the largest possible number of villagers. Some of them will apprentice to the above, some will become farmers, some will become warriors.

Simply put, we need more than 'some' farmers to feed everyone there is the main issue I see given the technology level. Unless we use magic, but we've effectively just been told we can't.

or just have everyone drop everything at harvest/sowing times to chip in.

Not in that form. However irrigation for instance I can set up for a large area in a day with magic. Drawing nutrients to the surface to enrich soil I can do as well.

So can you. Once I have a mage core we can enhance our crops and maybe speed the growth. We can also use your ships for fish. Capture and breed wild boar. Once we locate some valuable ores we can buy cows, pigs, chicken and so on and both of us can find ores with some work.

Food will be ok once we get set up.

Hmmm..... I still reckon we want a farmer for every two non farmers - better to be on the safe side.

((Also, mine's Vulpa - no geomancy here))

(( I know. But USEC has it. ))

That's fine. Once we bring them back you can divide them up and get it going. I'll stay out of town organization I have a school to run. I picked a large town within a half week because we jump a week so may as well use the 3 days to get to a large population center it'll have a lot more of what we need.

Farmers will help, as will fishermen if there's enough fish in the sea.  Secondary goals may be services and goods for the people - clergy tend to be good for education as well as salving of the immortal soul; cobblers, tailors, and the like may be helpful, or maybe a chandler if we can get animals to be rendered into fat.  Since you're going for a sailing force, rope- and sail-makers will be pivotal for rigging and sails.  Barber, butcher, maybe convince a mercer, that sort of thing.

I'm so glad I'm just recruiting mages :).

I do need a weaponsmith, bowyer and armorer as well though for the school but no reason I can't just use the ones we get for the town.

At least you're useful.  Point her at something that needs hurting and she's fine, but character-wise, Cymea's about as useful to town organization as a tornado.  And maybe helping train a ranger service, if we don't already have something like that.

Oh, but finally, I get the excuse to post this little thing and this related thing (linked from the first, but I thought I'd pothole it as well due to usefulness).  Everyone probably already has it, though.^_^

You can only make so much in a day though.

More then 1 blacksmith can do a lot more.

So, somehow I ended up with a cold. I'll be off for a few days until the cold goes away so, SJM has rolls again. Just roll 1d20, add the relevant skill, and come up with mostly fluff while also telling them what happens.

Also, If anyone has a good image hosting site that doesn't require logging in. PM me with it so I can post the map of the Merthy woods Township. Also, start deciding on a name for the town.

True enough, but they aren't top priority. Once we have enough tools and stuff, we won't be needing a whole lot smithed. The occasional new tool for new workers or to replace broken ones, but that should be little enough for one smith for a while.

True but I'll need a large number of sets of full armor, shields, melee weapons, bows, arrows, javelins. That would take a long time for you alone to create.

If we get invaded any time soon, we're dead. No number of smiths will prevent that.
